Help -wife wants Tips

Stealth-
I use the GT3 as a daily driver - have never tracked it, although I have participated in many, many different track events / races in other 911s.
I don't know about a stick shift being a better daily driver - I just know that I have almost never (with the exception of rental cars on business) driven automatics. I do remember driving some U.S. made car years ago where you pushed buttons on the dash to change gears (guess I am showing my age).

2002 996 X50 - gone , but missed

1992 Turbo S2 (1 out of 25 Andial-modified cars)
1980 SC - a great car!

Folks-
Not that anyone really cares, but I just placed an order (11/13) for a stick shift, Janurary '07 build date. Dealer is offering some price break on GT Silver color. i have never owned a silver 911 (don't like Artic Silver), but have owned Lapis Blue Metallic, 3 in Guards Red, Carrera White, Mocha Brown and Black, so I thought I would try this color.
Thanks for all the kind input - Gerry

For years, I always got the automatic in my Vettes, etc., to please the wife. Then I noticed she never drive the car anyway. It was always there for an emergency. Finally, I decided I would forget this "never drive the car anyway" and always got standard transmissions which are so much more fun to drive.....they give you absolute control of the car. The automatics were always upshifting, downshifting when you did not want them to do it. I had to put up with that for these imaginary times the wife may drive the car?? I have never looked back...my M3s and Porsches have always had standards. I am sure in a one-in-a-million emergency, the wife can handle the standard tranmission.

Gerry,
Get the tip. I have had mine for almost 4 years now and I like it more and more each year. My wife has a 6 speed Boxster S, so I am familiar with both gear boxes. I have read a lot of criticism about the tip on this forum, as well as car mags over the years, but never from someone who has owned one.

I have one and like it but it's almost a minority opinion around here.
