Default is sports chrono package BS?

I have a 997TT tip, my buddy has a 997 6sp. We both have the sports chrono package. When we go 0-100mph with no sports chrono, the max boost is ~14-15 psi. One of us is driving, the other is watching the gauge. When we push the sport button, we hear the idle increase but when we go 0-100 full throttle the boost is still ~14-15 psi. There is no discernable difference. I was under the impression that the sports chrono package is supposed to give 3 extra psi for a 10m seconds. Anyone else experiencing this?

Try changing your display to show the bar gauge. With the sport mode activated, you should see the boost go up to 1.2 bars as you pour on the throttle. And no, the Sport Chrono isn't "BS." It really does work. I drove a 997TT without one and one with the SC and there was a noticable different between the two.

I have a 6 speed. the boost is 15 psi throughout without sport mode. in sport mode at full throttle it goes to 18 psi or 1.2 bar as early as 2000 rpm and stays there till 4000 at least, after that it goes down to 15 again until redline. try higher gears, like fifth or sixth with full throttle and you will see it, if not there is something wrong with your sport mode especially if you don't feel the difference in throttle response and power.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try again with my buddy w/ the bar gauge, gotta have someone else watch the boost gauge while one of us drives cuz the car is wicked fast. I'll keep u posted.

The boost increase is dependant on EGT. Which means you might not see the full 1.2 bar every time due to the ehxhaust gas temps get high. That is so the turbos do not get cooked. That is the explanation I got.
However there is a noticable difference between nailing it in regular mode compared to Sport mode.
If you are never getting the high boost between the 2k-4k RPM range have the dealer check it out.

Why would anyone buy/spec one out without Sport Chrono?

It's one of the must have options, like LSD. Would cost a fortune to retrofit.

I run mine in PSI, I've seen 17.5 but I'm more focused on the road at that point.
