Default Front Spoilers/Lip

It seems no matter how careful I am at entering or exiting a driveway apron by angling across, sometimes I still get that ever so slight scraping of the front spoiler. Don't you just hate when that happens?

My understanding from Rennlister "C4s Surgeon" is that its a few minute job to remove one and replace it (10 Screws).

If anyone needs a new spoiler or would like to hang an extra one in their garage for "stock", I bought mine from Bill Profeta at Auto Gallery for $198, plus UPS ground to ship. Bill can be reached at (818) 884-4411.

Me too - not a good sound to hear. I think Vertex sells a plate that goes on to protect the lip.
Of course, wouldn't that just make it a bit lower and thus more likely to scrape?
I'll stick to stopping a foot before the curb stopper and asking the wife (or whoever is in the car if I am not alone) to get out and look as I creep the last few inches forward.

Mastiff, it is an easy job, the 996TT had two screws and 8 push in tabs, the 997 variety has the same screws/torx , just a few more.
Good luck, that is a great price, the dealer here wants 349$ for the same part!

Bill is a friend of ours and I asked him for a "group" rate. I'd recommend calling Bill for any of your Porsche parts needs, just a great guy to work with...

Dog,

No matter what you do, no matter how hard you try to avoid it, especially in places like LA, unfortunately, it's going to happen.

Mine scrapes all the time and I try to be VERY careful. Living in the Hollywood Hills and LA though, it's unavoidable.

Two things to keep in mind.
1) don't paint the lip spoiler - (you'll just give yourself more heartache)
2) don't lower the car - (you'll just give yourself more heartache)

People who live "in the country" or don't have bad California roads are free to lower cars all day and night. Unfortunately, if you want to keep your car comfortable to drive without nightmares of constant scraping and paint spoilage.. Don't do the two things above.

I don't think I would even bother to replace the lip spoiler unless it was really mangled. It's just going to happen again and again.

Mine is really beat up in 2200 miles. My 993 with H&R springs was really low and it never scraped when in the same places. That extra overhang for the radiator really decrases the approach angle.

Porsche should fit these cars with auxilliary air shocks to raise the car 2 inches for such "landings" . I'd get that before I got rear bumper ultrasounds. One parking aid can be as good as any other.
