seth-i have owned a 996tt for 3 and 1/4 years. take the car at 100 miles-these cars are not fragile-mine was trouble free and tough. i am sure they won't beat up your car, but if they do-you have a 4 year warranty. you are lucky to get one now-enjoy it.

The color is Slate Grey Metallic.. Unfortunately it's one of the colors that has an upgrade charge. Fortunately, the color looks great.
There are so many great "non-upgrade" colors, I have a hard time understanding why someone would order a premium color. I was going to order Meteor Grey Metallic which is a free color and very similiar but this car became available so I scooped it up.
Granted I have not seen the "free" colors sitting next to a car that has "premium colors" but common sense tells me, they are not that disimiliar. I doubt anyone will ever pull up to me at a light and say, "hey is that slate grey metallic" (except maybe for Mastifdog )
But beggers can't be choosers and please, please, please, please, please, can I have my TT now

B-Line: I know you mentioned that the dealership (Sunset) wouldn't allow you to pick up the 997TT until after Parade. Did they mention that they used this car at the Porsche Paddock display for the ALMS race at PIR? Just asking becuase I could of sworn this is the same car I saw under the tent. You never mentioned this so I don't if they didn't tell you or you didn't mention it. Depending on when those pictures were sent to you your car may have more miles. I'm not trying to cause problems I just thought you should be informed.

Plus variable geometry turbos like these are especially susceptible to this kind of damage as the generate heat even more quickly than previous types of turbo chargers.

A couple hundred miles on the car is no big deal. Worse come to worse, it is under warranty...

No, they did not tell me that they used it at the Porsche Paddock display at PIR. But I don't fell they have any obligation to tell me where they display it before I buy it. As long as they don't use it for test drives or beat on it, I'm not concerned. They promised me the car would not have over 100 miles so I would guess if they get near that number, they will be transporting it.
BUT PLEASE.. Keep an eye out for this car.. If you see anything fishy.. Let me know.
