Your home and setting is beautiful, and the cars do compliment each other. Thanks for sharing and enjoy that new Turbo.

Nice pics...the turbo looks great! At least the M5 is black which hides the lines.

Beautiful cars; I see the 997TT came from North Olmsted. Is that the former Sunnyside Porsche? Enjoy the cars- they are 2 extraordinary vehicles.

Ok, geez, I'll ask: which is faster?

Tell us about your feel of the over-boost mode in the 997tt...

Yes, I second Mark's request... give us a little comparison. Both are comfortable rides I'm sure, GT & Saloon, but in terms of performance do you find yourself amazed at how different the two are, or are you amazed at how well (but still behind) the 4 door saloon compares to the almighty turbo?

Now Aaron, be nice, let's not start an M5 vs. 997TT comparison. You won't get my support on this one.

The M5 is not even close to the 997TT and although the M5 is a very nice car, I would not dignify the M5 by comparing it to the "almighty" 997TT.

Let's stop this one before it gets ugly.

I disagree completely: TOL 500hp BMW sedan vs TOL 470hp Porsche sports car: should be close: BMW weighs enough to even the odds. On paper, they're very close, but that doesn't count the over-boost. I heard the M5 dyno's about 360rwtq....520fwtq on the 997TT should convert to about 420awdTq right?

Mark,

a comparison might be interesting but not because they're "that" close. There's a 400lbs weight difference between the two cars, even with the data you present.

That's what I meant: the M5 posts more HP, but weighs more too. Anyone?? Anyone?? Bueller??

Most importantly to me: I'm curious as to reports of the overboost: I have this mod going on my turbo 928 & am getting excited about it: 500hp in low boost, 600 in high boost for 10 seconds

Mark,

The M5 has 500 HP, but only 368 ft-# torque. It runs to 60 MPH in 4.6 seconds or so. The 997 tt runs to 60 MPH in 3.3 (TIPS) to 3.7 (6 speed) seconds.

Between 0-120 or so, the 997tt wins by a mile. Between 120-195, the M5 could keep up, may be gain a little. But when you are behind by that much at the start, the M5 will never come close.

I had an M5 and love the car for what it provides in terms of utility and performance. But when it comes to straight line runs and cornering, it can never touch a Porsche turbo.

The 500 HP is a great number to throw around, and does provide blistering runs on the autobahn. However, in the 'normal' speed ranges on American roads, the M5 does not rule.
