Default GT2 slave cylinder upgrade

There are many threads discussing improved clutch uptake and feel with this swap, but what I'm not finding is if it's a plug-and-play deal, or if I'll need other parts to either a) facilitate the swap physically, or b) appreciate the improvement in feel and engagement the new slave cylinder offers.
Please advise.

If you get the kit from EVOMS it includes everything you need: http://www.evoms.com/EVOMS_GT2_Clutc...clugt2slck.htm

To do it using GT2 parts is not plug and play. Im going the full monte on this upgrade.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if you just order the GT2 parts from Porsche you'll need to modify your transmission bellhousing for it to fit (drilling/tapping some holes in the right spots). The kits come with special mounting brackets at a minimum.

I did the "Full GT2 conversion" path, including drilling the bell housing and installing the new GT2 PS reservoir. I was leery of the BBi solution due to issues with leaking and failures reported.

It's not a cheap option, but it is a HUGE upgrade. It literally feels like a different car -- after 4 years of having a power-assisted clutch, it has so much feedback now underfoot. You can feel the clutch bite and there is so much tactility through the pedals. Taking off from a stop in 1st gear is no longer an issue and I couldn't be happier.

Same here, while the engine was out, I separated the transmission and outfitted it like it would have been from the factory. The only things left in place were the reservoir and hardline, which I flushed about 4 times.

All the parts were from Porsche:

1 99642317106 GT2 Master Cylinder
1 99611623790 GT2 Slave
1 99642308118 GT2 Assist Spring
1 99635511901 Reservoir Cap
1 99711608690 Clutch Fork
1 99642337790 Clutch Line Hose
1 99970720440 Reservoir O ring

Since I was doing the work, I needed some taps, bolts/nuts/washers, I modified the boot of the original slave and got a blank from home depot to plug the original hole. Be careful with the needle bearing for the fork, watch out for clearance of the new fork (though I think this has more to do with where you tap and mount the new slave) inside the bell and flush the crap out of the res and line.

If you have an MT 997.1, I can tell you it is the right thing to do, period. It's the way they should have been delivered from the factory.

Awesome responses, thank you very much. Exactly the info I needed.
Yeah, it's too nice a car NOT to do the upgrade. I think I'm gonna go all in as well, so the new question becomes kit vs GT2 upgrade? Are people strongly divided on this? Is there ultimately a big price differential? Similar performance and durability?
