Lowering spring install questions

Hello,

New to the forum. I'm trying to install a set of Eibach springs and found the front shock top mount nuts not aligned with the opening of the shock tower. Both sides are the same. Is this a common issue? Should I loosen the mounting bolts in the lower part of the shock and wiggle it for the top to align?

Thanks in advance for any help,

My Bilsteins are really close to the edge, but I am able to get a deep offset combo wrench on them. I did change out the hats and the strut bearing though, but mine look similar.

That is how they look on any AWD 997 - the strut nut is not aligned with the opening, and there is nothing you need to do. Just another lovely quirk that makes installing suspension components SO much fun on these cars :)

Your alignment shop will move both struts maximum towards the outside just to barely get into tolerance.
