997.2 turbo pdk shifts up automatically in Manual
Hi all,
In my recently purchased 997 mk2 turbo s, it seems that even with the shifter moved over to the left to engage manual mode, the pdk still shifts up automatically as the engine reaches the redline. Is this normal or am I missing something? Might sound like a stupid question but I'm a newbie so your comments will be of great help, thanks.

The PDK is saving you from destroying your engine and to be totally honest this is much needed for 99.9% of Porsche owners.
If you got in $20,000 of lessons and track time you still wouldn't come close to making the wise decisions that a PDK will for you.
I know this sounds critical and condescending but it's the same thing I tell myself.
Let the PDK do its job and you will be amazed more and more as time goes on.

Totally normal. It'll always upshift if you don't. Fail safe.

Tip is a totally different tranny and I don't have experience with it. But from what I understand, it's more like a standard TC tranny. They will hold gears if you choose to. I'd say yours is normal.

Correct, my TT too. Tip transmission programming in Sport will force a manual shift...bet the P-car engineers decided to amend this line(s) of code for the PDK ;-)
