What would you get to replace your Turbo/Turbo S?
These cars are amazing and do just about everything very well. I've had my Turbo S for about 5yrs now was thinking what would I get if I were to replace it? Perhaps a 570S, 600LT? A 458/488?

A Flock of Beagles and a 1280 acre ranch in Colorado. No wait. I already had that. Happy now with the TTS.

Drifting
Not interested in much at the moment besides maybe a 930, 964 Turbo or an improved version of what I have (i.e., I'd upgrade to another 09 but with fewer miles, aerokit, PTS color, etc.). I suppose a 6mt V10 R8 would work for me, too.

488? Yes. Still more than I want to spend. 570S is on the list to go drive. That is tempting for sure. Maintenance and warranty cost on them is a factor though. The principal of spending that on extended warranty and service every year is just hard to do. Thinking about adding a Z06 manual to get another type of experience.

I've thought of this often even if just for fun. The Turbo and Turbo S are just so damn capable and at their price point nothing compares. So the real question is how much more money do you want to part with? If you're considering Mclaren I'd skip right to the 650, it's the biggest bang for the buck IMO. The 570's are a bit nicer in terms of interior tech but the 650's are just awesome cars and can be found with 2k or less miles for $175k. You'll spend that on a 570 easily. I've tracked them both and will say I prefer the 650. The 600 would be cool too but you will pay for it. Ferrari...Well...If we are going to talk 458 then you're in that $200k - $240k range and it's a very capable car and sounds great, a 488 will put you $300k realm ++/- and it's the car of the 2 to get if you were seriously comparing the 2. I've spent time in both on and off track, the 488 is pretty amazing. Now...The sleeper is the Lambo Performante if you want something really sinister. This car is an absolute monster on the track and a real head turner. Same price as the 488 +/- and is a NA V10 - This car sounds better, is more visceral, and just feels better, TO ME. The other consideration is what are you doing with the car? The beauty of the Turbo S is you can drive it like you stole it and never really worry about it. It's the cheapest of the bunch to maintain and work on and is comparative in performance to all the above...Soooo...If it boils down to you're just ready to step up into something more exotic and you're really not worried about the $$, then the Performante would be my choice. If you're a little budget conscious and wanted to stay under $200k then the 650 is a solid choice. IMHO..

I've looked around and felt the urge numerous times to move-on to something else. Right now I'm considering either a 2010 or 2011 GT3 6MT for the driving experience. The newer 991"s don't appeal to me. Perhaps I'm biased but I won't consider anything else other than a Porsche.

I'd get a 991 Turbo S. And I did!
I test drove a McLaren 570S Spider. It was exotic and fast, but it didn't compare to the 991 Turbo in terms of comfort, ergonomics, and every day usability. I also looked at a Ferrari California T. It was a beautiful and capable car, and probably the one that I liked the most besides the Porsche. My conclusion was that you simply cannot beat the overall package offered by Porsche in the 911 Turbo. I think this applies to either the 997 series or the 991 series.

If I had all the money I wanted to spend......I would go 720s.
Realistically...tuned 991 Turbo S is a monster.
If you want a different experience....AMG GTS (make sure not a 2016)

I've asked myself this a number of times. Nothing out there right now is really "better" than my 997.1 for the price so I'd probably just move back downmarket where I'm comfortable. A new Mustang GT and one of the upcoming Broncos for the winter months sounds good. Or pick up a little Subaru GC8 coupe and a M97 to swap in. Maybe the rumored MR-2 will be out by the time I get bored. Who knows what the future holds?
