with that said if TJ pulls the motor and rebuilds it’s a moot point and I believe he is going to but it makes the cars back story even more of a Curiosity, if that’s even possible.
16 bit counters on these DMEs, so 65535 is the maximum on those counters. That’s as high as it will count.
Sorry for OP.

Maxed out range 1s aren't that uncommon, especially if a car has some mileage and a tune that raises the redline a few hundred RPM. I think when you do the math, 65000 range 1s equals less than 5 minutes total time spent in range 1 over the life of the car. (Of course, since it's maxed out and stopped counting, it could theoretically have 2 million range 1s, but still, not overly shocking to see.)

When range 1 is maxed out will the hours update the next time a range 1 occurs?

How’s it coming TJ? Haven’t heard anything for a while now?

Side note: Forum member Jay (super cool guy) is doing my 60k service for me today. He plugged in his Piwis and brought up my range report and not to brag BUT....

Lucky Lucky! While not the ultimate diagnosis, it would take serious restraint not to get out of range 0-1 for 2050 hrs. It's just not that hard get into 2-3, and I don't drive my cars hard or track them. Just street driving and a little fun 'n gun ...

I totally agree! It was owned by a woman most of its life and I’m not complaining one bit. It doesn’t mean everything but it does make me feel good!

TJ, post an update when possible,

here's some info on over revs

Copied text.

Until a few years ago ignitions recorded in ranges 3 and 4 were considered by the Manufacturer to be safe with such vehicles still eligible for Porsche Extended warranty. Ignitions recorded in Ranges 5 and 6 would not be considered for warranty with existing policies invalidated at the point of over rev. Current Porsche warranty procedure ( as of 2018) considers activity in ranges 3 and 4 to be potentially problematic with compression tests and / or oil checks deemed necessary irrespective of whether or not incursions occurred several hundred operating hours prior to the check. However, in a pragmatic relaxation of previous protocol vehicles with activity in ranges 5 and 6 will be considered for extended warranty provided the over rev activity occurred more than 200 operating hours ago. The warranty provision is at the discretion of the importer and subject to the aforementioned compression/oil checks

It's been almost 2 months since we heard from TJ. Sadly, I think his enthusiasm was great in the beginning but quickly flamed out once the issues started surfacing. Honestly, not surprising given the situation.
