Default vinanalytics.com for free vin decode

Saw the thread about vin decoding. I use this one all the time. Free and just put in the last 5 numbers, and find the match.

For some unknown reason, I thought it was pretty well know. But I found out later in something I read about them that said "We are back", but not sure how long they were gone. Anyhow, I only have bee using it for a month or so. Very handy, especially when you looking for a car like I am.

I found them awhile back. The site was down and the only vins that were available at the time was ones that had been run in the past.

Yes, I had heard that PCNA had blocked the backdoor that these tools were using to generate the info. I suppose that a workaround was found to gain access again. Handy tool and I've used it many times when shopping and selling.

Here's another helpful back alley tool for y'all

Free autocheck reports. Just copy the vin after the url.

Enjoy

Is it bad that https://vinanalytics.com/ cannot find a build sheet for my Porsche? It can find my other Porsche's but for one it doesn't. Cannot figure out why.

Hi there - I thought I’d chime in here to address the build sheet unavailable questions above. Unfortunately Porsche doesn’t provide a build sheet for a small percentage of vehicles. It’s not clear why that happens but I suspect it just comes down to human error. I have seen build sheets come after the fact however (e.g. after the car was delivered), so there is no harm in periodically trying to see if anything has changed. Enjoy!

I used this repeatedly over the last week or so as I've been car shopping. Sadly though it seems to have stopped working as of last night. Still not working today.

Dang, I agree that it seems to be down. These back alley URL tricks work for a little while but then the websites grow wise and close down access. Haven't come across another one yet, but I'll post it up if I do.
