Default Do I really need to upgrade intercoolers with 997.2?

I am trying to run the COBB Stage 3 map. Do I really need upgraded intercoolers to run it? I heard that the 997.2 IC's were amazing, and just as good or maybe even better.

Edit: I have a 997.2 Turbo S already

Stage 3
  • Exhaust Requirements: After-Market Exhaust System.
    • High Flow Exhaust (larger diameter piping)
    • High flow catalytic converters.
  • Intake Requirements: Stock air box with stock air filter or upgraded panel filter.
  • Intercooler Requirements: Aftermarket intercoolers required.
  • Sensor Requirements: COBB 3BAR MAP/PUT Sensors required.
  • Boost Targets: 20psi (+/-1.5 PSI) 91 octane, 21psi (+/-1.5 PSI) 93 octane, 23psi (+/-1.5 PSI) 100 octane.

Yes I would upgrade the intercoolers but I would not go with 997.2 intercoolers

Sorry, I made an edit. I already have a 997.2 Turbo S. So it is worth me upgrading the IC's?

i would and did with AMS ICs. IATs is a killer so upgrading ICs will impact those and keep heat soak away for good (reproducible) power.

I think your stock ICs are more than adequate.

OP, what did you end up doing here???

The stg. 3 tune couldn't be run on my car (seemed to run like crap) without the 3bar MAP sensor. Did you ever try it?

I was able to end up running the stage 3 OTS tune and the 100 octane tune after installing 3 bars sensors...Never ran great, but then Sam was able to make me a Custom Stage 2.5 tune that ended up running really well.

3 bar Maps allowed for more options for sure. Even with stock I.C.'s. (for short burst)
