Remote Tuners? + e85 tune questions

Hello,

I am planning to tune my car for e85. It is my understanding that all I need are 1300cc injectors. I am using COBB AP as the tuning device. Can you please help me answer these questions.

1. I am very new to Porsche, came from the GTR, BMW tuning world. Who are the best 997.2 Turbo tuners around? So far through some research, I am hearing good things about ByDesign and AIMperformance.
2. Do you know if any of these tuners do remote tunes or e85 tunes?
3. On my other cars, I had a flex fuel kit so if I need to put 91 or my tank had a mix of 91 and some e85, It would adjust for that. For the 997, I am seeing there is no flex fuel kit. Do I just drain my tank, put in e85, and then get tuned?
4. Since I am assuming that I will be tuned on 100% e85, what happens if I am not near a station and I put in 91 but there are remnants of e85 in the tank?
5. My understanding is that you have to switch maps in order to change fuel types. Do tuners make maps for 30% e85,50%e85, and full?
6. What WHP should I get on e85 with no cats and exhaust?

Hang on a second, 997.1 or 997.2? If you are .2 guy, you are already dead in the water. No port injection on that motor and the high pressure pump is too small to handle the fueling demands of E85.

Wow, did not know that. I have a 997.2.

Meth is what you need to look into. ESmotor has a number of really fast, 9 second stock turbo 997.2s running around with meth. Fueling is a big issue on the 997.2 motor. Small HPFP. If I had a .2, the ESmotor guys would be who I called.

I also did not know that about the .2's.

Dead in the water? Why not just replace the stock pump with one that provides more flow/pressure? Can't a high capacity Walbro be made to fit? Maybe like this one?

no options. Its not the low pressure pump thats the problem its the high pressure pump for the Direct injectors.

.2 max power is right around 650wheel without meth. There are not fuel injector or high pressure pump upgrades

To the OP I would sell your .2 and go for a .1 if you are trying to make big power.

Also my car was tuned by aim performance...Ryan and Joe are some of the best around

I am trying to be just at 600whp. What should I do to get there?

I have exhaust, cat delete, stage 2 tune.

What should I add to get to 600whp? Intercoolers, y pipe, plenum, intake???

Well, it's true that you learn something new every day (at least I did about modifying DI cars in the last few days). All the modifications you listed will increase power by adding more air into the engine. What you also need is to add more fuel to the engine, and unless your current fuel system has enough overhead capacity to provide that, you will not be able to realize the power increase from all that additional air. It seems that the DI 997.2 turbo's high pressure fuel pump is pretty close to its limits when the car is in stock form. You will need to find a higher output replacement for that high pressure fuel pump in order to make more power. I have found some DI high pressure pumps for other makes that support big power levels, but not for the 997.2 turbo...

So if nothing is out there, is it impossible to hit that 600whp goal?

I also heard that it is nearly impossible to run methanol on 997.2 because the setup

There are several 997.2s hitting nearly 700 whp on the stock turbos. You will need meth to do that. Meth works very well on the .2 platform. You need to call AIM/ESmotor and see what they recommend doing. I know of several 9 second, stock turbo .2s running around.

You can always give Sam at Bydesign a call. He will explain everything you need to know and really easy to talk to. He does a lot of work with Cobb also.

Getting ready to do some development tuning on a 997.2 turbo that will be running a blend of 93/e85. Will be interesting to see how far we can go before we max out the stock DI pump. I will try to update this thread.

I thought Longboarder was running E85 in his 2011 997.2 Turbo S.
