Default Spoiler goes up after 75mph but come down

Last three times out ,opening it up , spoiler will go up but when I slow down , warning comes on and spoiler won't drop down. Will engage spoiler button and spoiler won't do anything. Stop, turn off car, restart and engage spoiler button and the spoiler will go up and down on command. Need advice on solution. Thank you ,Mark

It could be a bad spoiler relay switch.

There are two relays, up and down.

yes, same systems. The console switch is the only difference I’ve found.

Unbelievable! Had to go to Corpus Christi for a funeral from Roswell New Mexico, went over 75 a couple of times. Stopped lowered the spoiler because of warning inoperable then spent the night in San Antonio and now the spoiler has been working fine ever since! No warning ,drove 85 all the way home , took it out this morning and everything is clicking! Go figure??!!

Probably the microseitches
unfortunately you have to replace the harness, not just the Ms like a 996.

You can't splice them in? I haven't looked at what I am facing yet. Purchased the car with an inoperable wing. Don't know if the pump is toast, leaking cylinders, bad micro switches or what.

Should be fun!

That explains it. No spoiler system works correctly in Roswell due to residual EMF effects.

Mine does this intermittently as well, no retraction and no warnings. Hydraulics are dry and look perfect. I was told its probably the micro-switches.

On my old 996TT the top passenger microswitch connector somehow had a tiny bit of play in it, causing it to break its internal connection from time to time. This is the type of switch that has springs in it so it is constantly trying to pry itself apart and the housing is held together by two small plastic clips, one on each side. The symptoms were that the wing would rise fine, but throw an error at the top. Taking the cover off and pressing the microswitch together would make the problem go away for a while, so I eventually wrapped it with tape and the problem never came back.

But for turning truck traffic on 285, I'd have guessed you were never less than 75 on that drive. And from Fort Stockton to Kerrville, you could have easily averaged well into the triple digits (assuming it wasn't too windy). That's no-man's land (except lots and lots of oilfield trucks)!
