Buyers remorse with 997TT purchase?; looking for opinions/experience. Long post.

I might also suggest some semi-solid engine mounts and a rear sway bar to add a bit of tight sportiness that you can enjoy at any speed.

Wow...interesting post...All I can say is everybody has a personal/subjective view/feel of "fast". I just bought my first ever P car in August and it was a 20K mileage 6 spd MT OEM 2007 911 Turbo. I had just sold a scooter that weighed under 400 lbs and had over 200 H.P. (and I had some pretty extensive 2 wheeled track experience in my younger days...I have raced at Daytona) so the 997 TT didn't strike me as crazy fast but with a MT it was certainly the fastest revving car I had ever driven and had my full attention with how quickly she needed to be shifted when driven in anger. Plus the AWD was a new experience for me that has taken me some time for my butt/brain to understand. Having said all that I am really enjoying the 997 TT driving/ownership experience and just wrapped up a "big" Turbo build that I should have back next week (The 93 tune is done and the E85 tune was "near perfect" today...YES!!!) with ~700WHP on E85 and ~600+WHP on 93, which will be really cool I think. As the old saying goes, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so are one's car choices...just get something that blows your skirt up. If it was me, I really think your 997 TT Cab looks sweet and I'd keep it. p.s. I agree with the sound out of the OEM cars leaving something to be desired, as you know that can be rectified with a new exhaust...for my build I went with Kline headers and a Kline decatted Inconel 3" exhaust...haven't heard her yet but am expecting sweet music. Good luck with your decision.
On a closed course obviously

I'd agree that an exhaust would really awaken the car.
I was having some similar feelings with my 996TT coming from a modded 951TS that I had for 15 years. Seemed a little boring...at first
I have a Kline exhaust and there is minimal drone, if any. But it rips on boost, also less lag.
Money no object europipe is awesome also or unobtainium if you want true artistry.
A Cobb tune is also an awesome upgrade.
I'd also recommend engine and trans mounts to stiffen the car (assuming no active mounts in your car)
Numeric shifter was my first and still favorite mod. I did the shifter alone, stock cables. It's amazing.
I think you have a unique car that's well insulated from extensive depreciation. These reversible mods will enhance it and you will either know to keep it or sell. They won't take away value and you could sell them separately if needed.
In a few years you could probably swap even for a 991 gt3!

In the spirit of fraternity and helpfulness, I would trade my 987.1 Cayman with a tight, edgy, mid-engine effervescence for your uninspiring turbo.
I'll throw in some champagne and Bordeaux, as well.
It's the least I can do. ;-)

I bought a perfect pre owned 997 turbo that was nearly $165000 dollars new with every option in the book and an 11000 dollar set of magnesium light weight wheels and after market headers. It was probably the most amazing car I will ever have purchased......BUT It did not light my fire like my 964 turbo did. I sold it and haven't thought about it since. If I wasn't on the gas going warp twelve it just felt boring to me and every time I stepped on the gas I was worried about cops because I was in "go to jail" territory. Amazing car but it just wasn't for me. I still lay in bed at night kicking myself for selling my 964 turbo because, at the moment at least, I have been priced out of them. Sell it and get something else, lots of cool stuff out there. I bought a Ferrari that only has 300 horsepower but just cruising listening to the Tubi exhaust is enough to stand the hair up on the back of my neck.

I bought a 997tt after selling my 993. It’s hard to compare the two, but I like the 997tt better than the 993. The 993 was perfect in every way, but it just didn’t have the “spark” I was looking for. Also, I didn’t like the 6 speed in the 993. First gear was geared so low that when shifting from first to second always caused a neck jerk. I also understand what your talking about with the 997tt. The capabilities of it cannot be used on the street. But, I like the idea that I have them if I need them. The other thing with the 997tt is it just feels more like an “expensive” vehicle like a Porsche should feel.

As % of the price of a TT, a good exhaust is mice nuts. A Europipe is the same smidge over any other, but you need to listen to one first inside and outside.
I have driven my Europipe since 50K miles and don't feel I need a tune to add to the existing 505 lbs ft tq.

buy an M&M exhaust. you'll not complain about not enough sound(s)
too fast?
don't dip into the boost
3.2 / 964 "cabs" = yuck, you'll really have buyers remorse
maybe 993, but they are ugly (imo) with top down.
good mechanically though and hit your other buttons if you like the look.
Ciao
