Default Factory Sport Exhaust Option

Does the 997.1 Turbo have a Factory Sport Exhaust option? I bought a 2008 Turbo Cab, and it has a sport button. When I press it, the Exhaust is noticeably deeper. It also activates PASM. My F80 M3 has a feature that switches how open the Exhaust is. Is this the same thing?

There should be two buttons, left is to activate sport suspension; right is for engine/exhaust sport mode. It does change the exhaust note a bit.

I don’t think there was an optional sport exhaust.

There is no sport exhaust option for the 2008 Turbo. It’s not available for my 2014 Turbo S either. Porsche doesn’t offer this for the Turbo.

The change in tone comes from engine mapping change...I believe the position on the VTG vanes change when in sport mode.

Even more noticeable with a tune. You can also smell the difference. Try Sunoco race unleaded fuel!

Oh Man your comment about the smell made me recall my youth racing two stroke motorcycles when the race fuel had castor oil mixed in...now that was a glorious smell.

Porsche Turbo models have never come with an active exhaust system for changes in sound. Any sound changes come from changes in the ECU programming. That said, the current GT2RS was released with the first valved exhaust system from factory of any Turbo model, it is a straight muffler bypass off the back of the cats with the valves open (see photo below).

That said, if you're interested in taking up you exhaust note a notch over factory, we do have some excellent options available : )
