Need Winter Wheel/Tire Recommendations
Hey all - I want to inexpensively as I can (<$2500) put on new wheels and winter tires on my 2011 TTS (i.e. swap out the Porsche summer wheels/tires in the winter). Obviously Porsche sells them but they are pretty pricey. Tire Rack seems to be hit or miss with what they carry. I just want to be able to drive the TTS around occasionally on cold weekends during the winter but certainly nothing high speed or fancy. The alternative is to just put the car in storage for 3 months which sucks.
Does anyone have any recommendations on wheels and tires?
thanks - Ron

When I still had a 997 turbo, I ran BBS CH-R wheels with my winter tires. It was a great combo, and it was nice to change up the look of the car every fall and every spring.
Does your TTS have center locks? If so, then your options are much more limited. I think Tire Rack sells a set of "relatively" inexpensive OZ center lock wheels that might work.

Lots of "less than perfect" track rims for sale on this site. Buy a set, throw some rubber on them and enjoy for years to come. Thats what I did when I lived in the great white North!

What he said, buy cheap used wheel here and get some good rubber. These cars are great in the snow with the right rubber.

I went with Pirelli Sottozero. It was literally the only option I could find that fit the stock Turbo wheels. I've only driven on them a handful of times (in cold and rainy conditions), so I can't really say with confidence how they perform. No experience in the snow yet, but I do plan on driving it in the snow if we get any this year.
