It's tedious to run this work yourself and you need a lift, engine jacks, all the right tools and the expertise (+patience). I'd try searching for another Independent Shop and draw at least a second opinion. I can give you a couple shops in the Bay Area and in Scottsdale. Don't know any in LA Metro. $7-$8 might actually be the number.
