exhaust with 200 cells cats
Good morning
Will performance exhaust with 200 cells cats pass California emission test? ( 2008 997 tt with stock engine), thanks.

Good question...thank goodness I live in Fl. where they don't enforce their exhaust emissions laws, as running cats on a Turbo build is dangerous and very inefficient. I have heard that some 200 cell cats can cause an error code in the OEM ECU and I have seen some say 50 state compliant but I would ask the specific manufacturer for guidance. My understanding is if they are cali compliant they have to be specifically approved by the Cali Air Board.

The California test now is basically a code scan and visual inspection. Officially, even if your car runs cleaner than stock and all codes are clear, it doesn't matter as you need to have all OE emissions equipment or CARB exemption/certification decals for any aftermarket parts.
