Yes, don't DD it in a hailstorm but that's it. I drive my 997 Turbo S most every day except when it's super salty on the roads or if I have to bring my friends somewhere. I'm at a stage in my life where I just don't care anymore about stuff like depreciation. I never, ever plan on selling it and can afford to fix anything that would go wrong. At least, for today.
We could all be dead in a nuclear disaster in 5 years or get hit by a bus or whatever... live for today. DRIVE THAT PUPPY ;o).

Do yourself a favor... put a piece of black tape over the odometer and purchase a DSC module (plug and play) and you will never look back!

driving in the snow/ice
I have a 'newish to me' 2012 Turbo S and was wondering, do the turbos get around reasonably well in the snow/ice?

While weather can be a factor for some, living in Northern CA it’s not a concern. I purchased my 2011 911 Turbo S as a daily driver and have never thought twice about it. I do not understand when people (Porsche and non-Porsche owners) question this approach to ownership. I bought this car for me in this lifetime, not the next owner in theirs. I was stunned at the logic of a Porsche owner when he told me I should replace the PCCB rotors with Gyro-discs for when I drove it, and then installing the CF rotors when I sell it to improve my resale value - huh? I’ll use my Vanguard account and my properties for long-term investment returns and my Porsche for my more immediate pleasure ROI needs and desires. Unless you want a headstone that incorporates “Low Miles” on it, drive your Porsche every chance you get...you never know when God’s going to call you in for that final pit stop.

Same here, drive mine just about every day from spring to fall. Occasionally take it out on nice days in the winter for a little ride, then give it a good power wash after.

I don't have a job where I need to daily one of my person vehicles (have a take home cruiser) but if I did, I would love to DD my 997.2 TTS!
However, it's nice to open the garage on my very few off days and have this very special car to drive for fun trips only.
If I had the income to never worry about mileage and possible resale value, it would be even better. But make no mistake, I drive mine when I can.

got caught in a freak snowstorm in nj yesterday on Bridgestone S04 summer tires. Car had no issues with about 4 inches of snow. I have snow tires sitting in the garage and with those on, the car is fantastic in the snow, unless its so deep that you are just plowing.

My Dad used to remind me, "You're a long time dead." He was WWII vet. He and his brother went to war together. His brother never came home.
One of the better traits he taught me was to enjoy every day like it is your last.
My point is simple. Unless there is 'another' car you enjoy driving more, then drive your turbo. Who really cares? When it has a 145,000 miles on it like my 997 4S and still drives like it is new, you will be able to reflect on all the great days you spent in that set of wheels. I'm betting looking back, you will be thankful for your choice.

Just drove mine! Moved it back 24 inches to get Christmas stuff down from attic. Moved it back to marked spots. No engine wear whatsoever. Loved seeing it without even starting it.
