Thanks to everyone for the great help. I have decided to pass on the car.
On the other hand, I have a deposit down on a 08 Turbo Cab, 6 speed, 24 000 km (15 000 miles).
Saw the rev range report, and it is almost perfect. No range 4,5 or 6, and minor numbers in 1,2,3.
Seeing the car tomorrow. Hoping everything checks out.
I do prefer the coupe over the cab, but this car might be too difficult to pass up.
Whats everyone's thoughts on the cab vs the coupe?

I was looking for either on my search. I ended up with a well loved no stories 2008 cabrio. They tend to not get beat on as much as the coupes and less likely to be tracked. I love mine and having a 911 with a drop top is heavenly. My kids hate the back seat but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make ha ha!
Really interesting article about the 997.1 Turbo cab in Excellence.

For me - preferred a cab over the coupe. A drop top experience is so different than a coupe. I do not have plans to track the car and most times you can't go as fast as you would like on the twisties, so the coupe advantages to me are minimal. When the top is down none of that matters - going for an hour drive on a weekend morning is my therapy. My wife says she can hear the birds on our drives - can't wait to experience a Michigan Fall with the top down!! Go with what you like (most forums/reviewers tend to **** on the cabs - oh well!!).

I have worked on my own car. Changed spark plugs etc. performing a leak down test on this vehicle I would imagine the labor would be mind boggling. Multiple stages of removal of components just to do a check of that type would take probably a few days. Why would someone allow anybody to disassemble a car not even purchased to me makes no sense. If it’s that intrusive forget it. Just doing simple checks like inspection with a PIWIS or Durametric tool would suffice. Evaluate the real time data. These engines are quite robust. The Achilles' heel is the cooling system. Have your PPI guy pressurize the cooling system and check for operation of the two pressure release points. Forget that rev range crap. They all have over revs. Check the obvious stuff.
300hrs ago is huge, I’d use it as a bargaining tool and not worry
glad my 930 never had a rev counter.

TTSurgeon, I got to test drive a 1985 930 Turbo. I fell in love with it instantly! PCA Club buddy needed some work on it and it was amazing! Kind of felt like the 997 Turbo with its boost right around 4K.

I ended up going with the cab. Too good of a car to pass up.
