997.2 DRLs used for 997.1 foglights
My 997.1 fog lights have seen better days from many canyon runs and getting all scratched up, The stock bulbs are dull and never looked good.To make them HID I installed the USP motorsports HID kit and they look way better but lots of extra wires and a ballast in a tight small area.
I was able to get my hands on a set of 997.2 DRLs that are HID , built in ballast and have a way better crystal look. They fit perfect and literality plug and play with no error codes or mods needed.

I live in Canada and its law to have DRL's. My car is from the USA, and the way they set it up is to code the car to run the headlights all the time. Not a fan of that.
There is a way to add a diode to the headlight switch that allows the fog lights to come on when the key is on and headlight switch in the home position. These look identical as the ones I have from the outside, and plug and play is nice. I may have to source a pair and use them as DRL's.

I liked the idea when I first clicked on this thread... then I realized that the 997.1 projector unit is probably a more expensive and a more desirable part, at least to me design wise, but maybe not price wise. This "upgrade" isn't really an upgrade to me since 997.2 is just 4 LEDs where 997.1 is a true projector.
I understand HID is bulky and halogen bulb isn't pretty, so why not implement LED tech into 997.1's nice projector design?

Some folks like to stick to OEM stuff which in this case is a good option to have.
Price wise, these lights appear to be more pricey than they 997.1 units but not by that much.
Good to have options.

I too prefer the .1 single projector look and run them on my 09. I do have an extra set of .1 fogs available if anyone is interested in them for a project.
