Default First timer considering a 2007 turbo

My husband’s dream car has always been a 911 turbo. He is turning 40 in a few months and we are in a position to buy a used one. We are looking at a couple options, both 2007 with automatic transmission. We test drove one today and fell in love. Is the car worth the $62k price tag? I was eyeing a 2015 Carrera S that is the same price, but my husband has his heart set on the 911 turbo.

I don’t love the dated radio system and would want to upgrade it to something with Bluetooth and hopefully Apple play. Any recommendations on a good aftermarket radio are much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

More details on the mileage condition and options are really needed in order to make a call on the price.

The 997 Turbos are great cars!

as already stated need for info on the car.

Dont think about the radio to much. Once you buy one you will not care what is playing

I agree about the radio. I have owned by cab about 8 weeks now and only used the radio once to make sure it worked. I have the Bose system - even with the top up - it isn't worth listening to - sound quality struggles to win over the tire noise. Maybe if it was a daily driver slogging through traffic it might matter more to me, but top down on a weekend morning - no radio required!!

Exciting proposition and your husband is a lucky man to have a wife interested in his cars. Need more info, but in a very general sense, the 997.1 turbo is going to depreciate far less than a 2015 C2S. So, it might feel like you're spending a lot on a car with dated technology when a similarly priced, equally good looking car with up to date tech and modern luxury (the 2015 C2S) can be had. The reason your husband is smart to want the 997 turbo is due to the car being likely near bottom on depreciation, and of course....it's a 911 turbo.

Yes, the car is worth every penny. Don't overthink it....like a lawyer might. Pics or it didn't happen.

Thanks for your input. We’re both new to the Porsche world and all the info is overwhelming. But we’re on our way to sign and purchase a 2009 911 turbo right now. Pics to come!

Wha? Way to step up! Nicely done and definitely need more details! You're making a very good decision on the turbo. Congrats!

Black on Black (like our other 2 cars)
Automatic tiptronic
AWD
$71k purchase price
52k miles
Sports chrono package

What other info is pertinent? I will learn the ropes here soon enough! I will post pics later.

If you have the build sheet or option list from the dealer, that's helpful. Seems in line price wise. 2009, being the last of the 997.1, is considered a bit more valuable. This is really due to the more modern PCM module (radio interface) and the updated glue used to keep the coolant pipes intact.

Nice car!

That’s the first I heard of the coolant glue update on the 2009 models. Interesting.

Can't go wrong with that choice - especially if its a manual. Woot.

Edit - its a Tip - but that's cool. Let see the pics!

First, you are very cool wife for researching this.

Not sure if either of you drive a manual transmission. But if so, the cars will hold their value significantly more, and (may) actually appreciate one day.
