Default Auto-Blip

I am going to try this thing out. More for amusement value than any performance considerations.

Installed one yesterday in a 996 Turbo. Will post a very short video at the link you provided. Group buy still open, post 14 in above link.

Installed mine today, what a riot! This thing is so much fun. Messing with the gain and delay let's you really dial it in to your liking / mood / whatever. Totally different than a stock blipper. 2 thumbs up!

When I first put it in I couldn't get it to calibrate...then I realized I had forgot to connect the ground wire. dumb da dumb dumb...

Hey guys,
ordered this thing too.
I was wondering if i should connect the tool to the clutch in or clutch out wire. I do press the clutch pedal pretty fast and hard. So the blip might be too late when the tool is connected to the clutch in wire, cause of the blip starting when the clutch is fully pressed to the floor.

Any ideas?

thx
steffen

I set mine up to blip when the clutch hits the floor, and i have the delay set at minimum. I find this works well for fun street driving (which is why I got the unit). If you are installing to shave lap times I would probably go with top of the clutch setting and adjust delay to your liking. You can always try one setting and change if necessary. I suppose if you really wanted you could also hook up both and use a hard switch to toggle between top and bottom.
I used constant power from an unused fuse location in the fusebox. This works well and remembers your last on/off setting on the unit. If you would like a picture of that i can post.

I have my Dension and Auto-Blip both sourcing constant power from the same connection in the fuse box. See write up here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turb...n-install.html
For the rest of the connections the pictures in the auto-blip install guide work well.

Do you have to "un-learn" heel-toe to use one of these? I.e., what happens if you also blip the throttle manually? Does it also rev match up shifts?

No rev matching. If you (i) like to heel-toe and (ii) are proficient at it...then I don't think there is really any point in getting one of these. However, I personally find the amusement/fun factor to be quite high. YMMV. Of course you can always turn it off.

If your not a pro, the heel and toe method is tricky and exhausting on the racetrack. For me its too exhausting and sometimes to dangerous. I do have problems maintaining a constant brake pressure when downshifting from 6 to 2 for example, cause the right foot is permanently moving. One mistake and you will miss the curve et cetera. I am not able to adjust the brake pressure too. So for me that tool could be a great relief.

I will, install it to the upper clutch switch, cause Andres told me so and this will hopefully suiut my style of driving (hitting clutch hard and fast to the floor).

as mentioned in the group buy thread, there is an extra T-tap. Put one on each clutch wire and experiment to figure out which is better suited to your driving style. https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...downshift.html

Will this work on all 997s?
