Oil change!
My wife may never truly understand the enjoyment I feel when fresh motor oil arrives at the doorstep.
This isn't an attempt to start a flaming oil war thread, I swear! Though....I did hear recently from a very trustworthy insider that Mobil 1 is actually made from ground up puppy cartilage....so, obviously not fully synthetic, as they claim. Marketing hype.
Take this with a grain of salt though. The same guy has a friend who recently told him that early versions of Motul were refined by **** scientists, specifically to quiet the valve chatter of the Panzer engines, thus allowing more stealthy attacks on allied forces. Not sure if I can feel good about using the stuff...

I run mobil 0w40/5w50 mixed 3/5.5. Works fine, change it once a year.

oil topic was all over on evo world many years ago, i thought 300v had highest zinc content, i will need to find the link again. surprisingly, amsoil was good oil, valvoline was too(all tested with used oil analysis).
guess i will have to change q3k miles for now.

For those that are running 8100 Xcess>>you might want to think about "upgrading" to 5W45 or 5W50 Motul SPORT.. If you are spending monies to bring in 8100 spend a few dollars more for the SPORT..
Do your research and look at the specs..
In the end it's the UOA that speaks for itself or oil.. I don't know if I would push 300V over 3500 miles without a UOA>>all speculation until you see your UOA..

You sure you trust that insider of yours VS huge billion dollar auto manufacturers who conduct their own rigorous testing then come up with oil specifications that are approved in their engines? Stating a recommended oil used by high performance engines as puppy **** out of the blue without real proof is just generating fake news.

i have been using 300V on my track car(evo) and has been working well for many years but it hardly sees any miles, maybe 100 miles per year.

Hello All,
Great thread and thank you to all of you who use Motul!
Just to clarify a few topics here:
- Motul was founded by Swan & Finch in the USA in 1853 and later became an independent lubricant manufacturer based in France (an ally in WW2) in 1932- that is where we continue to be headquartered today and have been ever since. Speaking of history, did you know Motul was the ever first multi-grade oil available? That goes for the first semi-synthetic and the first fully synthetic engine oil as well.
- The 300V engine oils have all the necessary detergents/dispersants etc as a regular service engine oil. We only recommend a shorter interval due to it being a motorsport/track product from a legal perspective. While it is our flagship-highest-
performing product, the 300V doesn't hold the Porsche A40 engine approval like the 8100 engine oils- 8100 X-cess 5W40 and 8100 X-max 0W40.
- 300V does have a high ZDDP additive package BUT we also use a unique ester group 5 synthetic base oil that has additional anti-wear properties vs common synthetics for added engine protection.
- Motul Sport 5W40, 5w50: This product is positioned between 8100 and 300V and is only available in 2 grades. It is a 100% synthetic oil w/ Ester where the 300V is 100% synthetic w/ EsterCore technology- a proprietary formula w/ a higher concentration of esters vs the Sport.
I hope this helps and please reach out to us if you have any questions in the future. - Nick
