why does my 997tt get like 8mpg?
mixed driving but not much stop and go
08, 64k miles
plugs, 02 sensors, and coils have 8k on them
umw tune, d088 intake tubes and gt2rs intercoolers
car runs totally fine, no check engine lights, no pending codes, long term fuel trims under 5%. pulls hard, throttle response is good, if it werent for the **** mileage id have no concerns.
for instance 2 trips of 11 miles after filling up and the gquge is down a bit past 7/8ths.
what gives?
thanks

My 997 TT averaged 15 - 17 mpg in mixed driving.

Bone stock, I’m getting 11.3 mpg in city driving over the past month. Not in sport mode most of the time.
When I first got the car I drove it on a 1000 mile road trip (all highway) and got around 21.6 mpg.

seems odd. I got into boost maybe twice, so the rest of the time this should be a plain jane low compression 3.6L that is attempting to get to a stoich a/f ratio. If I were on it all the time, hey, you pay to play, but I was just driving along normally. I mean my supercharged 700rwhp v8 cobra got better gas mileage...thats pretty sad.

That does sound really low/poor. I get mid teens in mixed use, even with stage 2 mods.

18-24 normally on a stock tune when not in it a lot.

From your description, your air/fuel mixture should be on spec so all I can think to check is that the parking brake is fully releasing or there's not a brake caliper that's sticking. I've had to rebuild calipers that were sticking. I would do a hand check of the rotor temperatures. Drive somewhere without a lot of braking load and see if one feels significantly hotter than the others. It's hard to tell if they're sticking given the HP but I would think it could impact mpg.
That's all I can think of that hasn't been said.

Maybe fill to the brim, and reset trip meter, then measure when it is at half a tank and work out your mileage. Might be an error in the car and it's not presenting valid readings
