Default Steering wheel options

I purchased a 2008 997.1TT and it came with the optional thicker, full leather steering wheel (non-multi-function). I don’t really like this steering wheel and much prefer the steering wheel on my 986S. I like the “bumps” at 11 and 2 on the inside of the 986S wheel. Does anyone know if a 996 steering wheel will fit a 997.1? Also, what other wheels are people using and where is a good website to view other options?

Thx

I used this when I had my 07.
From a 2011 GT3 RS.
Bolt in mod with no changes.
(So I believe nearly any 997.2 911 wheel will work, along with related Boxster / Cayman wheels)

I'm probably going to offer for sale soon, since it has just been sitting in a box since I sold the car nearly 3 years ago

Cheers
Craig

I'm using the 997.2 Alcantara Sport Design steering wheel in my 997.1. All you need is the steering wheel, airbag and program the car for multi-function steering wheel to get the horn to work.

I don't know the write up on how to do it, but this is the way to go IMO.

I don't see the paddles. Are they removable? Always liked that wheel on past .2 TTS cars but with a manual now anything with paddles wouldn't work for me.

I wonder about that too. Same here, I like to install these on my 997.2 manual and wonder if the paddles are removable.

I ordered the steering wheel for manual cars from Suncoast. There are two versions of this steering wheel, one with paddle shifters and one without. I posted links below in my next post for either the Alcantara or Leather manual steering wheel (without paddle shifters) for those interested in this style steering wheel...

I suppose you can get a .2 steering wheel with paddle shifters and you could probably remove the paddle shifters and associated wiring but you will have two holes where the paddle shifters used to be...

I suppose you can get one with paddle shifters then take them out but you will have holes in the steering wheel where the paddles mounted. Ordering the steering wheel from the link I posted below, you will get the .2 Sport Design steering wheel just like the one in the picture I posted for manual equipped cars without paddle shifters.

When you go to the Suncoast website you select manual steering wheel as shown below to get to the desired manual steering wheels for the .2

I have placed the links to either the manual Alcantara or Leather .2 Sport Design steering wheels below each picture...

Anyhow... this is how I did it for my 997.1tt then I sourced the airbag from eBay. Hope this helps for those interested...

I got s sport design wheel for my 2013 boxster, but the basket hole was too large 30 mm, which is correct. My boxster wheel basket hole is 29mm, so the wheel was loose and the splines didn’t match. Anybody measure the basket hole in the wheel?
