Default Codes P1372 P1252 P1253 and the fix

In case someone else has this. My Mk1 turbo gave the codes

CODE STATUS
---- ------
P1372 .............................. 62
P1252 .............................. 28
P1253 .............................. 22

No check engine light. Turbo boost intermittently dropped down under 100% load. VTG turbo linkages were changed at the dealer. Left one was loose and did not operate the vanes properly. Very inexpensive fix.

I'm seeing a p1373 with similar turbo loss (intermittent). Any idea on what your part numbers, or parts were for your case? Were these the actuators/solenoid (I think the part no:9A110530803) or another part?

I think they are the linkages for the variable vanes. I just had mine replaced since the Indy said they were almost falling off which may be why I was getting the 1372 code. We will see. The part numbers I believe are 99712312470 and 99712312370. One for each side.

Those things also are pretty prone to rusting and getting stuck/stiff.

linkages or solenoids?

I've got a .2, not sure if either of these parts/issues changed from the .1. no other codes, and when cleared, it stays away for a random bit of time.

I was talking about the actuators and their linkage arms. Porsche even issued a service bulletin on how to lube them because it was becoming an issue. You can access them to check (and lube) pretty easily with the rear end on ramps.

Don't even need ramps, just lay down and reach up to the turbos. Easy to access. Which lube do you need to use? Might do mine.

Thanks for posting this. Also curious on how best to lube them (and with what?).

YMMV
Reset your ECU (adaptations) battery pull for +10 minutes.
