Damn dude, going to be an awesome build. Nothing better than a built engine

Is this a common problem on the .2TT?

OneFast-

How did you come across the car?
Do you have any recourse with the seller?
Are you doing the rebuild, or is a shop?
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with the board.
Best wishes for a better than new outcome.

I bought it it from a Chinese kid in LA.

While this no one could have known about, he did screw me on a lot of other things, from the new brake pads (completely worn out), to the upgraded intercoolers (were stock), and a couple other things.

He had a buddy who owns a shop who helped him misrepresent the car and I have it all in text/recorded calls. I’m going to sit on it for a bit longer and file suit in small claims, which they will likely default on, and turn it over to a friend with a debt collection company who is going to recover it as a favor.

All thay aside, let’s focus on how great the build will be!

I’m looking forward to getting the car back just in time for spring!

Mine is stock (never tuned) with just an EP exhaust. They won't warranty a car with Exhaust?

they’ve been plastic manifolds since at least the 993.

Certainly not my experience, nor some others on this board who have had engine work covered by Fidelity that had some mods.

I have a .1 TT.. had a bad coolant leak... getting it done now. Porsche workshop did a copy of the cylinders to check for scoring. so far so good. No scoring... just some scuffing marks.. they say not much to worry about. will be refitting soon and try out and see if all is ok...

Yeah that sucks for sure...I have been down that road as a kid during the muscle car era, now as an Engineer and an old car guy, if I get an oil error or an oil idiot light I immediately park the car. But look on the bright side, you got to spend your money on making your engine near bullet proof.

Updates on this build?

Question going back to the original problem...I'm not sure I understand the root cause of the failure.

You feel the solenoid failed and caused low oil pressure which hurt the motor?
Or you think the replacement solenoid somehow caused pressure loss and hurt the motor?
Or the pump was the issue all along and changing the solenoid allowed for continued low pressure from the pump that hurt the motor.
