Time for decision
hello!
new to write on this forum, I’ve been reading so much those last weeks about 997.tt that I almost fed up my self :-)
i come from Western Europe and I m about to buy an 997.1 2008 gt silver 48k miles for about 62k$.
Regarding the market, price seems fair. This one has the RA interior cocoa, sport Seat, pack chrono, full leather inside, autoblock and some other options. This a MT6 also.
still that for me it’s quite a lot of money and i never investing so much in a car. Would like to have your opinion about the price and your perspective about future value. Even if I don’t make money on it to you believe (with good maintenance) that I will be able to get around 55 in 2-3 years?
This car is beautiful and for me that come from a Boxster’s 3.2 987 the step is huge. Have to make the deal tomorrow so I’m quite stress about it.
Thanks for your concerns:-)

The price seems right but without knowing anything about the car, "seems" is the important part of this statement.
Resale is a complete unknown, but the general feel is that these cars will retain their value if well maintained.
Once of the key things to check is if the coolant pipes have been dealt with (including the plastic elbows). Other than that you have the camshaft possibility that you should plan on financially just in case. If neither of those bother you, get the car.
For me, I am willing to deal with both these issues (and smaller ones like the clutch assist and rear wing) in order to drive one of the most impressive production cars out there.

Burning Brakes
If the car checks out, the price seems very fair.

Hi,
So I went to see the car the other day, went by train as it was snowing here in my area. I was so nervous all the way. Should I buy it or not, that's a lot a money and so on..
Arriving at destination the owner wasn't here yet. A couple of minutes later, I saw a absolutely gorgeous Gt Silver coca interior stop at the red stop. Knew it was the one. We went for a ride test, everything was working perfectly. Firstly the owner drived it then me. I've asked so many questions about the car, I should have looked quite suspicious. Then we went to a garage that I chose for a quite deep check. The car was lifted and the guy of the garage has looked at the most parts that could have been problematic. The guy worked for Porsche few years ago and is now a specialist in car restauration he gave a me solid professional impression and was looking trustable. He checks the wheels, the clutch, the brakes, suspension, the possible leak points, if any domage have been done and so on. The brakes were almost brand new, the tires new, the clutch very good. Everything was very clean from his point of view. He even told me that he would buy if he could. Have to say I felt much better after it.
Then I drove the car, very carefully as the street were damp and also firstly coz it's not my car and also because I m respectful and humble about the power. The feel was very amazing all the ride and the power that I don't really explore seemed so important! Finally made my mind by taken the car.
We agreed that he changes the battery and that he make a fresh inspection on the dedicated state department office before I take the car as it is mandatory every two years in my country.
I'm very happy with my future car and also about the price which was I think, cleary a winter price. The car looks so good. For having been for a long time in the 997 market it's cleary the most beautiful 997 around event compare to the 991T which looks less desirable from my point of view.
I project to use it a my queen car garage even if the car could be use in all seasons.
I will revert to this post with pictures once the car is here and the weather will be better but I would like to thank to all the reenlist 997 community for having been such a fount of information. Keep posted.

Seems like a great deal for a clean, no issue 7.1 TT six speed coupe...
Future values are hard to predict, but I can think of few $65K cars that can be driven daily and are less likely to lose money than a 997 turbo coupe six speed...

Looks like a fantastic car, congratulations! I think you will experience your appreciation for the car will actually increase the more time you spend with it. I was thinking of buying a 991TT last year, then finally came to my senses and decided to just keep the 997TT and build upon the excellent platform the car provides. So with some minor improvements, including a software tune (EVOMSit), suspension upgrades, new wheels, and a race shifter (I have the manual transmission) my car has simply been transformed into an awesome street car, and its talents are subtle, really only apparent when you drive the car - the handling, the acceleration, the ride, all have been transformed to perfection.
My (long-winded) point is you now have a car that has so much potential to unlock - how and when you choose to take advantage of that is completely up to you!
Looks like from the photo you may be in Germany, where the roads are perfectly suited for this car.

Wow, that is a beauty. Hope you enjoy it. The 997.1 tt are awesome. You'll be smiling everytime you start it up. That will do more for your good health and outlook on life than money sitting in a bank.
There is no substitute!

Thank you! Didn’t pick up the car yet, can’t wait for it. For me the amounts of money for the car is a bit scary, but life is short and work sometimes stressful. So pleasant to have a fancy and performing car to enjoy the days off riding around and taking care of it :-)

Congratulations Gate! You've stepped into an amazing machine. Don't overthink the $$, you did very well on price and now own a top range Porsche that will provide countless experiences driving and enjoying. Also, Silver/ Cocoa is an awesome combination.
Envious of the road trips you're able to make in your geographic region.
Enjoy! post some pics!
