992 is out
http://www.motortrend.com/news/next-...aser-revealed/
The 992 is out but my 997s is not going anywhere. I am glad I have my 997 turbo and RS. I would buy new porsche cars, I have no choice, but admittedly its size is becoming like a boat already. |
Yikes! I'm not digging that back end at all. Especially that brake light sitting on top - yuck!
|
I don't like it....
|
wow that is gross
doesnt really get much better than the 997 |
The farther it is from the 993, the more it becomes like a boat. Thats why i believe the 997 would be the best looking watercooled 911 ever. They need to stop adding weight to it and making it bigger. When i put side by side my 991 gt3 and my 997.1 TT, my TT looks like a kiddie car. But its only because the 991 is really wide and long. |
^^^ do you know the dimensions?? ^^^
|
From the UK Autocar site:
"The photographed test car above (spotted last year) wore wheel arch extensions - evidence of a wider track that will give the 992 improved high-speed stability and better space for rear passengers. The car's length will remain unchanged." Ed |
That back end says everything except "I'm a Porsche"... interior on test car appears to be manual, I hope they bring it for the Turbo as well.
|
If that is the dash board on the 992, thats disappointing. Looks like a car from the 80s.

I'm definitely not liking the ass-end of that iteration
|
Too far out of my budget but in for the responses about the 992.
|
every generation it seems they get bigger and more emphasis on comfort, rather then driver experience / involvement
*GT cars excluded from above statement. |
I'm sorry but no, no way. There's just no way this is the car we'll see at dealers. Right? There's absolutely no possibility they would screw up our 911 to this extent. Seriously? Yuck, ughhh, it just can't be.

Looks like a logical and natural evolution of the 991 to me. I agree with OP that starting with the flatter, wider, more raked 991 they have been looking less distinct and more like an Aston Martin. I think the larger proportions up front make it less obvious that the engine is in the rear.
