After thinking about it for at least 2 years, I finally pulled the trigger on a 997TTS.
I have always loved the 997. I had decided I wanted a .2, but for a long time was undecided about 6MT vs PDK. Every car I have owned has been manual (and the list is pretty long), but I eventually decided on the S. I saw John Belk's post a few weeks ago, and his car matched just about everything I was looking for. We worked out a deal.
John Belk could not have been easier and more pleasant to deal with. He picked me up at his local airport (a 45 min drive to his house), gave me an extra front splitter he had, extra oil and a filter, and a bunch of Porsche memorabilia he got a couple of years ago when he purchased the car from a dealer. He even topped me up for the road. Most of all, everything he told me about the car was perfectly accurate. JB is an absolute stand up guy. Plus he takes immaculate care of his cars. I hate that the Porsche community lost him as an owner, though I hope he returns to the fold sometime soon!
I have been following these forums for a long time, really dating back over 15 years when I owned a '89 951. What a tremendous community on Rennlist! Thanks to all of you guys for the educational and entertaining discussions you have. I would like to thank osunick especially, who gave me lots of insight and advice over email. I look forward to being part of the community for years to come.

Thanks guys. I love the color combination. I was looking for a black or brown interior, but I knew brown was pretty rare. Plus all brown can be a little too much for me. The two tone suits me perfectly. And the dark blue is really stunning - more blue in person than it is in pictures.
Me too. Funny I had tried to PM JB about his car but I couldn't use the PM system (maybe post minimum?). He posted his thread literally the next day. I guess it was meant to be.

Congrats on getting an awesome car. Getting a car from a trusted member on the forum is one of the best feelings I am sure.

Watching your Porsche drive away is a difficult thing to do... Knowing it’s going to a new home with an appreciative owner does indeed help. Mac, it was a pleasure selling to you, no drama....all good!!! Due to preparing for pending retirement, I predict I’ll be back in the market sometime next year... Once you own one of these, there’s no way to go through life without one... Mac, enjoy your new to you TTS!!! You deserve it. JB

Having sat in that car for 10 minutes one day at the Tysons Corner dealer and staring at it for another 20 while it sat in the showroom, debating whether to buy it or not myself, I concur that it is stunning! Congrats.

Great find and I was more than happy to help. Rare to find them with ventilated comfort seats but I hope you'll find as I did that they are really nice to have and plenty supportive.
