I think that would have been a perfect match.
Ive been reading alot of threads about GTS and looks like it a semi-GT3 with rear seats.
If i did not have an RS, I might consider it just because my kids love to ride my porsches.

^^^ Correct, my understanding as well is the 'regular' 996 & 997 models including the GTS never had the Mezger; only the Turbos and GT models.

GTS is like a detuned GT3 @ 405 hp (or maybe its 408).

Ive read a number of rennlisters who where considering a GTS and a turbo, and after test driving it, none said a GTS is faster.
Im starting to be interested with a GTS, I think its alot of car.

I'm a big fan of the 997.2 GTS and was cross shopping them with 997TT's when I bought mine a couple years ago, as they are about the same price. Great car but never understood the 'detuned gt3' or 'halfway between S & GT3' descriptions.
The GTS was simply an S with all the right options as standard - powerkit, SPASM, alcantara interior, sport chrono, PSE, etc... You could option a Carrera S identically to a GTS if you so desired (albeit you got a discount on the GTS compared to optioning an identical spec S).
The only truly unique aspect to the GTS is that it's the only RWD wide body 911 you can buy other than the GT3RS & GT2. I feel like the C4GTS loses the special appeal, as the regular C4S already has the wide body. Having the fat rear end in a RWD car is what IMO really set the GTS apart as something special and more than just an optioned up C2S.
Edit: Also wanted to add, the 997.2 GTS was really an 'end of an era' offering from Porsche to send off the 997 with a bang. Nowadays, the GTS is just another trim level available on every single model Porsche now makes. They really diluted any special meaning to the GTS badge.

I just literally traded in a 2012 GTS4 manual cabrio with 19,000 on it for a 2009 Manual TT cabrio with 7,000 miles on it. (both same color) I personally am very happy with the change but don't have much time in the TT yet. I don't mind that its older, it has the same PCM and lower miles, so the year on paper makes no difference to me. The GTS was lacking a little power (to me) but the exhaust note and throttle response and linear delivery was great. They are both great cars, you cant go wrong. Oh, and i despised the center locks. I'm stuck with them on my RS, but not on other cars. if you have any more specific questions feel free to PM me
