I'm also in the market for a 997.1 6spd, no idea why i didn't buy one sooner.

I think it's time to dive in the Porsche pool

By what percent does this effectively lower the value? Mileage now 35K if that matters. Figured you guys would have an idea. Thanks.
Severe. I'd say 10-15% hit. Right or wrong, many dealers and private party buyers just won't touch it.

Probably close to this, which is why when an idiot backed into my 987 Cayman years ago, after it was repaired I hit the guys insurance up for a diminished value claim.. to the tune of about 15% of the cars value at that time..which they paid.

Didn't even know you could do that, good info.

Was bored yesterday and did a cursory search of 997.1TTs within 500 miles. Basically nothing but tips and a couple insanely overpriced 6MTs out there from what I saw. It was quite something to see all these tips with 30-50k miles in the low to mid 50s. The delta between the two transmissions appears to be widening substantially these days.

Thanks. I actually did pursue diminished value and was paid 12K. I considered pressing the matter but did not feel like getting into litigation, In retrospect, I should have pushed it but at the time was glad to get anything.

I agree with these numbers. I had someone hit my daily last year. Insurance offered ~5% diminished value. I argued and would not accept it. We ended up getting an appraiser that specialized in diminished value. His estimate was ~15% and they paid it.

Just got an offer from an INDI dealer for my 07 TT with 23k miles for $70 plus.

Not bad for a 11 yo car.

I still think it's crazy cheap...with a lot of room to grow.

Pretty good offer. That's not too far off from private party market value a year or two ago.

You and I are on the same page. These cars are dirt cheap at the moment and have been for years. The only thing holding them back to reach the same stratospheric values as older turbos is nostalgia.
And nostalgia takes time.

Imo 2 things can happen, if the bubble bursts all older Porsche's will come down in value, or the 997 will enter the bubble too.
I don't care what will happen either way, I'm 53 and plan on keeping this car until I die. My children can then decide what they want to do with it.

That sounds cheap to me as well, these cars are an incredible bargain at current prices for what you get. It also seems low to me given what I paid for mine back in Sept. Granted mine carried a premium being a 997.2, cpo for 2 years, clean, 1-owner car, having desirable options such as adaptive sport seats, PTV/LSD, sport chrono... and red seat backs and belts ftw!

I'm not saying these will reach RS prices or anywhere near that level of increase but I happened across some older threads about used .1 RS pricing and folks were commenting on how anything over $90k was too much! This was only a few years ago.

Im in the market for a manual 997 TT, but in no hurry to buy. Seem like there are plenty of cars available, just looking to find one that is priced well that fits in between trade in values and full retail. Had more than a few cars i passed on, seems like another one pops up every month or so. Last one I was interested in a 08 with 40K manual blk/blk clean carfax, carmax offered the owner 55K. I made a offer, and almost had a deal but the logistics didnt work out.

I bought it less than that 16 months ago. This is what I call FREE car.
