Default Prospective buyer: Tuned 997TT Purchase DME Report

Hello fellow P-Car folks:

I'm in active discussions on a low mileage 997tt. Has all the specs I want, minus the PCCB. The car is flashed and has a nice bit of kit from FVD (hybrid turbos, IPD plenum, etc.) The car is owned by an older gentleman. I received the following DME stats:

Range 1 ---- 13,012 (345 hours)
Range 2 ---- 4,334 (345 hours)
Range 3 ---- 1,153 (338 hours)
Range 4 ---- 264 (337 hours)
Range 5 ---- Zero
Range 6 ---- Zero

Operating hours: 346.30

Any feedback or advice is appreciated. I understand that if the rev-limiter is increased, the ranges will be quickly met. The car is an '07, immaculate shape otherwise, and less than 20k original miles.

Cheers,
Ravi

What are the hours for the range 4? Assuming it's not from 10 minutes ago, and it passes every other part of a PPI, that looks like a fine report to me.

(Though the average MPH is suspiciously high - 20,000 miles / 346 hours = 57mph average, when "normal" is usually between 25-40.)

Thank you. Updated the thread with the hours for each range. Appreciate your feedback, I don't want to let the car go if the report is decent. The report was done in August, owner is older (60+). When I inquired about the overrev, he indicated that it happened at the Porsche dealer, and he was provided a note that no damage was done.

^^ Agree. Odd that the ave mph is so high especially in that car. It doesn't indicate a money shift but it's odd he's selling it (maybe coincidence) so soon after having the overrev. What was the dealer doing?

Actual mileage is 15,500. So the average MPH is actually 44.7 MPH...

After searching on here, found a ton of threads. Seems like this is a no-brainer purchase, and that the DME stuff (sans massive and recent ranges 5 and 6) is highly over hyped. Appreciate your guys' help... sincerely.

44.7mph is definitely more reasonable, probably used the car mostly on easy highway straights.

Sounds good to go IMO.

Has he provided you with the note from Porsche that he allegedly received?

Tuned/modded car seems to have been pushed hard by its elderly owner or perhaps his son?

Wouldnt be concerned with that report. It is very easy to overanalyze all of these reports. Nearly every car has some sort of story and you just have to find the car that has the fewest and you feel the most comfortable with. If you like the car, go for it.

Ravi -
Interesting correlation between your DME numbers and those on mine when I bought it. Mine had the FVD tune as well but was removed before I purchased. Looks very similar how the tune allows the car to rev into the 1's and 2's. I checked it out thoroughly and a Porsche Master Tech said not to worry. It runs incredible, zero issues.

My numbers last time checked -
1 - 19,566
2 - 4,948
3 - 783
4 - 62
5 - 0
6 - 0

It would be really difficult to read a tuned engine.

As others have stated - no issue at all with that DME - i'd buy it if everything else checks out.

Completely agree. Unfortunately the seller fell off the face of the Earth, so my search continues. This was an enlightening research experience though, and I appreciate all of your guys' feedback.

Cheers,
Ravi
