Default Looking serious at a TT

i am looking seriously at my first 911. Any thoughts (besides it is likely over priced).....
low miles. Full dealer service records. Motor was ‘tuned’ and has a custom exhaust.

Just the wheels concern me.
Many thoughts on what to look for before I write a check?

I paid just a little more than that for a 2012 with a PDK.

Seems overpriced for a lightly loaded (no LSD) fairly basic TIP with 33,000 miles on it (not super low).

For that price you could be looking at an '09 6MT or a 997.2TT PDK. Way overpriced.

For your first 911, might make more sense to start with stock engine & exhaust. Get a feel how it was designed to be and then upgrade when you desire more power/sound.

Thats priced too high even for a 6MT version of that car.

Just for perspective, Four years ago I bought the same car (dealer CPO'd blk/blk 07 w/ 33K miles and similar options) but with a 6MT instead of a tip for 10K less than their asking..

No way I'd pay almost 80K for a tip.. If you want an auto then get a .2 PDK..

Advice given above, PDK is you best bet with the 9A1 engine. That car is a tough sell, in today's market and a big mistake for a new owner. Good luck. Coolant leaks await, with many other problems forthcoming. Don't do it! Don't don't please for the love of god.

Agree, write yourself a check, deposit it in your Porsche savings account and wait for the right car. This isn't it. I know because I speak from experience. My first 997.1 TT was a similarly equipped black on black TIP which turned out to be a money pit. Thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty. Do some more research and begin to look at later year cars for the same dollars. JMO

Thanks for the advice. I’ll keep looking. I thought it was too high. Now I know.

This quote makes it sound like every .1 TT is going to be a bottomless money pit. The price of the car in the OP is definitely waaay high for what it is, and he should be looking at .2 Turbos for that money, but buying a good .1 at the correct market price isn't a dumb move.

Without knowing the details, some comments above make Mezger+Tip sound worse than a Toyota. Would you guys buy it with $60K? Overpriced doesn't make it a trash car, or is it?

You can’t possibly be serious comparing a purchase from four years ago to today and comparing tip market to 6-speed manual market all at the same time.. or are you?

Nothing wrong with a good Tiptronic if that's what you want, and the car in the OP looks nice (except for maybe the wheels...), it's just nobody should pay the top-of-the-market 6mt garage queen prices for a modded Tip with 33,000 miles.
