Default TB

New 2009 tt TB installed by dealer. My p-tech who has been in the business a very long time said he had never seen what happened to my TB. In the photos you will notice some of the teeth on the inner plastic gear chewed off. My TB became stuck in the WOT position. Have no idea why that happened? Because my car had a AWE 750R kit the TB was not the 2007 TB that came on the car but AWE uses a 2009 TB from a TT, GT2 which has a larger bore.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that your thread helped me diagnose my P2101 and P0638 codes. My car ran real rough on startup and when I got the y-pipe off, that throttle body was stuck wide open. In two of my start/stops fixing this, I heard your noise, then it stopped. I blipped the throttle on shutdown thinking maybe that would help. Sure hope it was an anomaly. Been looking for prices on throttle bodies just to be prepared. Thanks for posting.

^ Things like this will rarely go away for good. If I were you I would start shopping for a new TB.

Glad it helped. Just heard of another guy in TX who had to replace his TB.

Suck. Guess what didn't go away for good? I was in denial. Worked for two days. Went into limp mode. Wasn't a misfire this time, just wouldn't rev. Took throttle body off and, surprise, the gear for the butterfly is missing the exact same teeth as yours. Should have taken it off Sunday and checked it then. Suck.

RockAuto came through. Ordered Wednesday night. $205 to my door next day with 5% coupon. All good. No codes, Running great. Off to the track first thing in the morning. Still not quite sure what caused the teeth to grind off.
tguaturbo, thanks again. I would have been lost without your sound clip and follow-up pic of the missing teeth.
