Default How uncommon are 'slicktop' 997.2TT and TTS models?

I suspect that one day I'll sell my R35 GT-R and add a 997.2TT or 997.2TTS to my garage (joining my 997.2 GT3 RS). When I do, I definitely want to buy a no-sunroof car. Does anyone have any production/sales numbers about how common the sunroof delete cars for this era of Porsche?

I already do expect them to be unicorns of course, but curious if there is any quantified data on the topic. I'm nearly certain they do technically exist, but not sure I've seen one in person. Thanks!

Unfortunately, Porsche doesn’t publish the production data that you desire. There’s no way to know how many were produced, but I suspect that the number is quite low.

Pretty rare, but not super hard or incredibly expensive to convert using OEM parts.

I don't think I've ever seen one. In fact, I thought sunroof delete wasn't even an option in the US? It's a shame because that would be a pretty cool spec.

It was option code 650 if memory serves correctly. The brochures show pictures of Turbos with no sunroof.

Thanks to those who have responded. Yeah, I'm afraid the more realistic answer is that I'd likely have to convert one unless I got really lucky.

To Skweri in particular, you can spec out a brand new 991 TT or 991 TTS right now with no sunroof in the online build configurator. I'm pretty sure that most US bound cars had them pre-ordered by dealers though, so it's likely that the ones without were pre-ordered by enthusiasts who specifically chose to not get the roof. I do feel it's a bummer that a sunroof is considered such a standard option in the USA though, as it's not the way I prefer my cars.

Was helping a friend look for either a 997.1 Turbo 6MT last year, or a 997.2 Turbo PDK, and throughout our 4 months of looking I dont actually remember coming across one. That was maybe a sample size of 200 cars or so over that period of time, but still.

Thank you for a very useful data point Bxstr! Happy Thanksgiving to all.

In the 997TT could not delete SR in the USA, the same way that you could not delete AC or radio.
(I remember this very well as I went through the painful process of ordering one back then)

Just curious, why is this important to you? Just seems you may be passing over a number of excellent examples to have a non-sunroof car...

There's a guy who takes out an ad in pano looking for these...he is looking for all kinds of no sunroof cars. Not sure what the big deal is. I never use mine, but I don't hate it.

I was surprised to read this, as i aways assumed you could do a sunroof delete on a 997 Turbo just as you could on earlier 911's.

But sure enough, I checked through some of my archived order guides... Sunroof delete was an option on 996 gen Turbo's (code 652), and sliding or sliding glass roofs became optional on 991 gen turbo's, but I can find no option listed for any year 997 turbos in any of the US order guides I have and a sliding roof is listed as included...

So is the answer there are ZERO US slicktop 997.2 Turbo slicktops (unless they were converted or imported)?

Can anyone provide a VIN or build sheet of one?

...I also looked at my pdf of the original 997 Turbo product brochure... In English but stated for the German market. Sunroofs were listed as an option instead of standard as in the US order guides, so slicktop 997 Turbos likely did exist elsewhere.

This is how I roll, meaning I always want no sunroof cars for my sports cars. Call it a mental disorder if you like!

To everyone else, I appreciate the research effort as it saves me time and effort to know that there are NO 997.2 TT or TTS sunroof-less cars in the USA as I can stop looking for one!

I’m sorry for tha bad news
In the 996TT you also could not order w/o SR as I tried to get it done in ‘01.
And in the 964T I bought a leftover ‘91 in ‘93 and I am 99% sure SR was not deletable.
I can’t believe that it has been 24 years of Turbo ownership.

Buy a GT2?
