Default What's the difference between these 2 Beru Coils???? Confused!!

Ordered 6 Beru coils Part #: 997-602-104-00-INT from Pelicanparts for $35 each. Next day I realized I should have bought the "upgraded" version for $40.50 each Part #: 997-602-104-02-M47.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item4

I ended up getting both and will return one of the version.

My question is which one should I keep and why? They look almost identical, both comes with the longer bolts and I originally though only the upgraded version did. The more expensive 104-02 version is made in Poland instead of Germany, shows VFB1 instead of MCC1 and has silver bolt sleeves instead of brass/cooper.

Both came with the same extended bolts

Upgraded $40.50 version is on the right

Upgraded $40.50 version is Made in Poland vs Germany

It's hard to say what is the difference between the two Beru "new style" coil packs. Whether it's the date of manufacturing with a improvement to the design. Which has taken place vs the original 996-602-104-00 which was fitted on early 997.1TT

Please note: These updated coilpacks are taller vs what is installed on your engine. You will have to order from a Porsche dealer or order a Genuine Porsche 997-602-104-00 (smaller in height)coilpack to install on Bank 2, due to the tight clearance between the turbocharger VNT Servo/actuator.

Borg Warner has purchased Beru. I think that some of the part number updates have been caused by BW wanting to re-engineer components and shift manufacturing around the world.

Thanks for the info. I'll be ordering 2 (1 per side) plus the spark plug connectors. Please let me know if I need more than 2.

Yes, I would probably recommend doing all 6 with the OEM.
