Default Dundon 321SS Lifetime Center Muffler for 997/991

Anyone that tracks a GT3 knows that the center mufflers both steel and Ti versions are essentially made of paper. They all split, crack and fall apart. We wanted to make it better:
  • Redesign it so it's more robust and can take track use for a lifetime without splitting.
  • Make a version that is quieter for our dB restricted track buddies(as well as a version that is as loud or louder than stock)
  • Flows more air so that some of our pending "big builds" aren't limited by the center muffler
  • Make it from 321SS (and then possibly Ti if there is interest).

Here's the 3d render in Solidworks

Here's the prototypes going together just today...

We plan on putting 4-5 together, some quiet some loud, etc and beating on them with beta testers around the country. Once we're satisfied we'll put an intro price up and get these things out in the wild!

Here's some current pics and Dyno Video of the Ultra Quiet Version of the 321SS GT3 Center Muffler. The Goal of this muffler was to quiet the beast down and maintain all of the power created with our race headers. I can say with certainty that we have accomplished this. Driving the car around it is noticeably quieter and retains its character and power! On the dyno no losses, still making peak 433-435whp just like the factory Muffler. We measured between 10-15dB reduction over the race headers with the factory muffler standing behind the car.

321SS version weighs the same as the factory steel center muffler.

Next is track testing including dB measurement on the Race/UltraQuiet and Street(catted)/UltraQuiet combos, if we can get it finished, we'll also bring the Loud muffler as well... A few tweaks we want to do to the guts and building the Loud muffler for the 321SS version. Ideally finalizing pricing and starting preorders in the next 1-2 weeks! Then it's on to the Ti version!

And don't worry, these aren't the Tips we'll ship with, working on a way to do swappable tips easily, the curve at the base makes it a bit of challenge but is part of the guts tweaking we're working on!

Great idea. I would have bought this when I ordered the headers if it was available. Should be installed next week, can't wait.

when you finalize the tip design it'd be great if the muffler could accommodate OEM style mounting plate! also curious how quiet the "quiet" version ends up being. i am working on something to keep my gt3 quiet at laguna, but a replacement "lifetime" muffler that does the job would be awesome

The base plate isn't an option as the guts won't allow it. Will show what we do with the tips, and we will be making turndowns available as well. I know it's definitely quieter than the stock muffler, just need to generate the data and get a few out there for testing on both modified and stock cars!

Completely understood, just was wondering if you had special tips or the like... The current way it looks is not the final version for Tips. We're working the aesthetic after the technical...

And thank you for sharing, never any offense taken to honest opinions!

I'd be curious on the DB delta between the OEM exhaust on the 991RS with side muffler delete pipes and your center muffler with side muffler delete pipes.

We'll get the dB reduction using our race headers and our catted headers, both are including side deletes.
