Saw this on eBay the other day: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...FZMu45&vxp=mtr

Looks like the seller is in your neck of the woods.

That's cool. Was this on 997.1 or 997.2? (does it matter). Can you post some details on what parts were required to do the upgrade?
Thanks!

997.1 has the mounting points to make it work. 997.2 you need to weld the base carrier attachment point to the roof

Bumping rather than starting a new one.

@ngng I want to put a roof top tent on my car. Concerned that welding the base carrier points won't be as sturdy as the ones installed from the factory. Can you shed any light on this? The car is not with me so I can't pull the strips and poke around to see what I'm dealing with. TIA.

Hi, what are you asking? If a weld will hold?

Cool. I bought the tent two weeks ago and used it on my Macan already. Best camping experience so far. I live in Mexico and I'm going to Rennsport Reunion. I'm deciding between taking my new Carrera T and the GT3. They each have their pluses and minuses and there are variables, like perhaps I'll ship the car to the border, which makes the GT3 more viable provided I can get the parts I need to adapt the roof racks I bought on eBay today. As much as I like the idea of taking the GT3 to RR7, I have buckets and Cup2s and the T might make a better roadtrip car for a 4k mi journey. I also wouldn't have to deal with the roof rack issue right away. Still debating. Much of it depends on how quickly I can get the parts to adapt the roof racks to the GT3.

@ngng been looking for a pic of the base carrier points and can't find any. 1) do I need to buy them or fabricate them? 2) where are they located? If you know of a thread with pics or have some info you can share, I'd appreciate it.
