Default Cost to replace tpms sensors

hi
my mechanic is quoting nearly $500 to replace tpms sensor (NOT including the sensors themselves!!). Does that sound right to people? He says it's very labor intesive process and includes new valves, weights, and coding of the tpms sensors themselves. To be clear, this might be a totally reasonable quote but im just checking.

Thanks

The process:
get a stack of sensors (about 500)
Remove the wheels, remove the tires, swap the valve, install the tire, balance the tire, install.
The system should recognize with a little driving, no 'coding'.

So, labor-wise, it's a tire change + some extra time to swap the valves - which should be really, if going slow, no more than 15 mins per wheel.

Mechanic? Usually done for nominal fee when new tires mounted and balanced by the installer.

I bought mine here www.tpms.com before recent tire change.

I used a generic TPMS $125 for 4. Then I paid my porsche dealer during the service install them for $75. Just install then drive to let system learn it. NO coding.

There is a way to only partially dismount the tire in order to install the TPMS. That saves having to re-balance it.

Just installed these in black to match my black wheels. No issues.

I was just quoted $2200 to change out my TPMS sensors at the Porsche dealer in Jacksonville FL. Granted I have center lock wheels, but still. I had 1 sensor out according to the cars system. They told me all 4 were dead. I went to Discount Tire near me and they replaced the bad one (I removed the wheel myself. They didn’t have the tools and I did) for a grand total of $68. I installed the whee and put the system into learn and in 1/2 mile the fault went away and all fixed. They really tried to rip me off. I went to the parts counter and they said the sensors were about $250 ea and let’s say $100 (rip) ea to replace. That’s not $2200

They're about $35 each these days. I had a whole thread on this, search for details-
And here's the site, they even gave you a 5% discount:
https://www.tpmsbargains.com
That dealer is certainly a rip off-I've had 2 replaced where I brought the wheel in myself, but come to think of it most places these days charge anywhere from $25-$65 per wheel to unmount, remount, then re balance the wheel. It can be installed with a partial dismount of the tire, and if it doesn't affect the balance it's good to go-
