Edgy looking DME report on 997.1 GT3 Im considering..advice needed
Hey everyone,
Need opinions because I have never seen this. I am inquiring about a 997 GT3 for sale with a dealer that has 20k+ miles on it. Naturally I asked for an over rev report and what they gave me was a report that showed the car has never had any over revs ever, not even range 1 which in my mind is absolutely impossible. I spoke with the service manager that claims that although very rare, he's seen it before..
They also say the guy that owned the car prior really babied it and it was never tracked etc....
My question is can I take this as legitimate? I obviously don't want to buy a car that has been abused, however the only thing that makes the report look legit is that it shows accurate engine hours for the milage. The car otherwise appears to be very clean
Any input would be great I really like the car aside from this.
thanks!

Not that hard, unless i'm going to get accused of modifying my dme.... I included 2... recent and about 3 years ago.
p.s. When i have tracked, i shift at 7.8 at the track. I have only gone full sonnet chasing Mooty in a 3,8 RS at thill for 2 laps. That was fun

Same here... Mine had zero over-revs when I bought it a couple years ago with ~37k mi (assuming that's still the case)

Just sold my .1 gt3.
O overrev when I bought it and 0 when it was sold.
I think on a standard car that hasn't been tracked it's not that rare. The gears are long and unless someone money shifts it won't happen. Hitting the rev limiter on up shift does not trigger. You need to misshift (3 to 2 at redline) or downshift too early (think on track, things are loud, you are excited, you put it in third too early and it goes past the redline)
Good luck.

Nothing wrong or iffy about zero overrevs across all ranges. I'd look at the total engine hours and compare against mileage to see if there's a chance a new ECU was installed but if that looks good then I'd be a happy camper.

Not that uncommon. Sold my 997.2 with 32K miles and 0 over revs. Plenty of track miles; just no bouncing off the limiter or money shifts.

Not impossible. My car had 0 with 22k miles until I got it once and now have 5 range 1. That was caused by a missed shift that well, didn't really turn into a miss shift because of the speed (hence the 5 range 1).
These cars DO NOT REGISTER over-revs bouncing off the limiter. I tend to shift before 8k but, you know sometimes its easier to just use that range:-)
Going 4-2... now...

Not that weird. Just check the engine hours on the DME report and make sure it jives with the ages of the car and its mileage (an engine hours count on the DME requiring an average speed of 80mph should raise some eyebrows)

I haven't had any overevs on all 4 GT3's I sold with lots of track time and bouncing of the rev limiter.
Well, one had 17 ignitions in stage 1 and I know exactly how where I did it. A mistake..
