Default kw club sport suspension

Has anyone installed kw club sport suspension in 7gt3? I saw in spec that the springs rate is front 70nm rear 190nm, linear springs. Im driving 50/50 street and track. Can anyone share your opinion about comfort of the ride on the street? I had in 6 v3 Manthey model.

I have the KW clubsport on a .1. The car is likewise a 50/50 car (indeed more track miles than street miles in any given month).

The ride is extremely harsh and really not something you want to live with on the street (if they are anything less than perfectly smooth). Your spouse will refuse to ride with you. It's that bad.

On the track it was originally extremely hard to drive as well. I took the car to TC Design to do the set up. They measured the spring rates and found them at 400 in lb-in front, and 1000 in lb-in in front (45/112 nm). They said "This is a VERY large split, softer than typical in the front and stiffer than typical in the rear. Long term the car may need a spring rate change". They did set the rebound and compression, and changed the ride height, adjusted the corner balance, and now the car handles well on the track (but still really harsh on the street). YMMV.

not apples to apples, but I have Ohlins R&T on my 6GT2 and KW V3 on my 986....the Ohlins are by far the better all-round suspension for street/track IMHO
Ohlins have a beautiful compliance to them, and the spring rates are much higher than the KW's...

Ohlins ttx.

The kw are good shocks I have clubsports on my 964 but ttx are a whole another level.

The stock kw spring rates are too high for us tracks. We tend to use a closer split and lower rear rates. About 650/850 vs the 650/1600 springs the kw kit comes with.

The ohlins road track and ohlins ttx I have now are quite good on the street. Firm but very supple. Kw on my 974 eepven with 450/650 rates is not as supple.

:-)

thanks!!

The stock is 40/95 nm I ve heard that 70/120 nm should be ok for street/track. Do you know the R&T Ohlins spring rates? I m thinking of dsc modul from Tom and stifer springs for oem dumper and keep mind calm

believe the R&T kit for 997 GT2/3 is Front: 90 N/mm(515 lbs/in.) Rear: 140 N/mm(801 lbs/in.)

That's a large split. For some reason the Euro tuners like this, all the chassis guys in the US like a much closer split in rates. Personally, unless your roads are like the glass of germany or japan, I think anything over around 600/800 inlb makes the car pretty harsh.

Is your car a .1? Keep in mind the .2 cars, the major change on the chassis were calibration changes on the dampers and higher spring rates in front. The .1 cars are quite soft. The DSC could help. But, if you're using the car that much on track I really think you're going to want more. The stock dampers can only take so much change in spring rates before the valving can't keep up.

I don't recall exactly, I upped my front rates to 600 or so, which is about the limit of the stock valved front R&T. I think you're in the ballpark.

I have JRZ RS Pro DAs with 600/800 lb springs and top hats and quick disconnects for sale if you decide to go down the route of replacing the shocks
