Nostalgia Cars (Gen X Folks)
#46
If I was going to go back in time I'd pick up a E36 M3, E46 M3, and a stock Supra.

What I meant though was maybe get something you haven't had before to make new types of nostalgic memories like you have done with the old muscle car. I have made the mistake 4x of getting an e30 m3 because it was my dream car when I was a kid next to the countach. The last e30 m3 lasted a month, and that was after I begged the original owner to sell to me for 3 years!

I bought a nostalgia car. The 993tt was my poster car as a teenager and that car started my 911 addiction.
Doesn't drive anything like my other RS cars but for date night and weekend drives it's a cool and great looking car.

For me it has to be the Dodge Viper rt/10 and the 993TT.
My friends dad bought a brand new viper in 95 and it just had huge pressence. So wide and so out of this world.
The 993TT in arena red from the "kills bugs fast" poster. Remember seeing one driving by with the red brembos and was in love.

For some reason I always like the RX7 turbo II from the late 80's. The next model was nice too, but liked the hood scoop on the other one better.
Would love a 964, but prices are insane. Can't justify it vs a 997s. I know they are completely different, but 40-50k for a 280hp car seems excessive. I also live in FL and need good AC.
Since you only have 1 spot I would take your time and find what seriously floats your boat.

My first 3 cars were Corvairs. The good ones, though - A Monza Spyder and two Corsas, a turbocharged one and the other the 4-carb version. Those cars were my steppingstone to Porsche after college and the Army.
But I am also a fan of torque and most of my car buddies were into American Muscle. My fascination with those came later even though Porsches were and still are my Number One. Later on came 3 BMW's including a new E36 M3 and a later Civic K20 Si that was a torqueless, troublesome POS that forever ended my affair with the Honda brand.
Seven years ago a good friend who flips cars had this '69 Camaro SS that was an abandoned restoration project. When I saw it, I could tell that it was begging me to finish it and the price was right. After two years tweaking it in my workshop garage - fresh paint, suspension and engine mods, Wilwood brakes, interior, etc. etc., I ended up with my "forever" nostalgia car. I never came across the right Corvair to restore so this will have to suffice. And it actually handles surprisingly well on the twisty roads around here. No lack of torque issues either!

Sweet i read about your thoughts on this.
I never planned for it, but has ended up with something along those lines.
I'm in Denmark, so car culture is a bit different, but have been following the Supra scene world wide for years. I've had mine for 10 years and restored it to a near perfect spec now. Been frequent past Titan in Orlando and following their crowd as well.
Things are moving on for me know and with the GT3 in the garage I'm out of room for the cars. Sadly the also near perfect 205 GTI has to go as well.
Buuuut back to you. The Supra comes highly recommended. It NEVER breaks. It always just goes and should be kept stock if you find one. They will be a safe investment. If you go for a non sticker, it will, for relatively few $ be able to take down anything from a roll, if you are info that. If not, it is a perfect cruiser.
PM me if you need any Supra related info

I'll throw my vote in for NSX as my favorite nostalgia car - thought it was more refined than my MKIV TT supra - both manual. Had a NA2 NSX as my daily driver for a couple years ago - alternating to my 7.2 GT3 on weekends - both made you feel very special while driving. Amazing chassis on NSX - loved every minute whether town or canyon - couldn't say the same for the GT3 as it really was a track-oriented car that sucked around town (and I had the lift kit). NSX low mileage examples have nearly doubled in the past couple years taking them to the 100K neighborhood. 275 hp stock so you need a supercharger to get it to modern standards. For that money, I didn't revisit the NSX and threw in some extra coin for 500+ hp stock R8 V10 manual instead - btw, another aluminum car. There's something about these aluminum cars. Someone mentioned M3s - can't go wrong with naturally aspirated M3s - I currently have both e36 and e92 (and previously e46)...but with seating for 4 and a decent trunk, the M3s are more practical cars than occasion cars.
