7.2 GT3 Newbie in Dubai
Hello folks
Just a quick introduction. I've been lurking on the boards for a while reading advice ahead of buying my first GT3. Thanks for all the great knowledge on here.
So, 2 weeks ago I finally did a deal on a 2010 997.2 GT3 in Speed Yellow.
She's got 19,000km on the clock and in pretty mint condition - I had a PPI done which found a couple of minor bits and pieces, most of which have just been fixed by the OPC under the extended warranty that came on the car. The DME report was good (600 ignitions in Cat 1, 3 in Cat 2). She's pretty low-spec (no PCCBs, no Dynamic Engine Mounts, no Front Axle Lift) but that actually suits me as I intend to keep it for a long time no hopefully there are less 'big ticket' things to go wrong. It's not had anything done to the coolant lines, so that's something I'm thinking about at some point in the future if/when I need to drop the engine.
Almost as soon as I got her, she was treated to a full detail and protection coating by the excellent District31 here in Dubai and now looks absolutely fantastic.
In 2 weeks I've already put 800km on the clock. I think my challenge is going to be not driving it too much! I just love that rush to the red line in 3rd and 4th gears and the steering feel is phenomenal.
Anyway, I've now got to try and find a way to fit her into the garage alongside my '74 911 Carrera and small collection of motorbikes....
Cheers
James

Congrats on the new purchase James, I'm sure you will enjoy her quite a bit as I do mine every time
Take her to an autocross event or a track event when you get the chance. Without some high speed turns you don't get a full feel for the cars potential.
