Is it worth it
I am in the market for a used GT3. The .2's seem to be ~10k > than the .1's. Other things, mileage, options, etc. being equal, is the difference worth it?

Lots of threads on this comparison.
Many differences, two different cars in my opinion. Advice would be drive both as the changes are noticeable I felt.
Both make great noises however and are a blast to drive!

agree w others saying try both if possible
.2 better for track in stock trim
both very good if on the road only... .1 more visceral, .2 more smoothed over, in relative terms
both are keepers, but i am biased

Had both, prefer the .1. More difficult to drive and the engine is a little more reliable as well as faster revving. You need to be on the ball with the .1, mistakes are punished. The .2 catches your mistakes most of the time.

The spread is greater than $10k for similar mileage and condition. The 3.8 is torquier. The 3.6 does rev quicker. 3.6 feels faster right off the line but less punchy once rolling in mid-rpms. They feel similar pull at high rpms. 3.8 rear suspension might be biggest difference? 3.6 rear end is lively; it dances. 3.8 is fairly planted in comparison; much more composed. I like the 3.6 suspension on back roads. It is fun. You can feel everything and the "dancing" characteristic is fun. I'd take 3.8 suspension on track or for just running around town; more compliant and more composed. Each evolution seems to be better at the extremes (dd and at track limit) and less fun in the middle (back road twisties); 991 takes it even a step further. 3.6 seems louder which is counter-intuitive to me; but my ears say it's louder? Visually, wing is biggest separation. I like the wing on 3.8 but that's 110% personal opinion. There are angles I love the 3.6 wing (directly behind it) and angles I'm not crazy about (from the side). I've owned both. Since both will be more and more antiquated performance as time goes on, I go for the experience and the aesthetics. I give 3.6 the edge on driving fun and 3.8 the slight nod on aesthetics. If I want max performance and best dd, I buy a gt4 or 991 or whatever comes next.
If I only had one car or trying to buy the best all-around mezger gt, 3.8 gt3 is it imo. If I was adding a thrilling/unique driving experience, setting aside the 997rs's, 3.6 gt3 gets the not over 3.8 gt3.

Had a 2007 997.1 GT3 and it was bought back by Porsche after 11 months as they could not resolve a persistent rear main seal oil leak. Nice car except for that. Currently have a 2011 997.2 GT 3 that I absolutely adore. Others may have other opinions but I enjoy it much more than the .1 and have had no issues whatsoever and it has fantastic power, handling etc. Last of the stick shift dry sump engines ... a keeper

I prefer the .2. Better brakes, suspension and less understeer.
