2007 997 GT3
Since the 2007 997 GT3 is the first year of the 997 GT3, does it have more problems or/and bugs than the rest of the 997 GT3?
Thanks :) |
No.

Bought mine in 2010 with 11K miles. It now has 44K miles. Excluding periodic maintenance, I have had zero problems. However, I have replaced engine oil, trans oil, brake fluid, filters, and batteries (car and remote), and front spoiler. New plugs and coils at 42K, but had no indication of problems before changing. I actually enjoy doing the maintaining, but it doesn't need much. Bought a Durametric Diagnostic Tool 5 years ago and have never used it, except to hook up and see if it works.
Almost forgot to mention 3 sets of tires and one set of TPMS sensors (batteries started going a couple of years ago). When I bought my toy, several people told me the PCCB brake pads would wear out fast, so I bought a set to have ready. My last check of brake pad wear was at 42K miles. I checked all 8 pads, top and bottom and the most wear relative to my set of new pads was getting real close to 1mm with 9.9 mm remaining on the left-front-bottom-outside and right-front-bottom-inside. The brake discs still look new and the greatest thing about PCCBs is that they leave no brake dust. No problem sometimes going months without washing the toy. After more than 5 years, I still look for excuses to drive it. Just dust-er-off and go. Mine will be up for sale after somebody inherits my property. |
Have had mine for one year and have put 6K miles on it. The car has been trouble free with the original owner and myself. Regular maintainance and regular driving is the best way to take care of this gem.

Besides coolant pipes and rear main seal these are solid cars, in my opinion. Come March, I'd have mine for 2 years and approaching 55k miles. Nothing but pure joy to own. I did have handling issues but it was cause by previous setups prior to my ownership.

The 3.6 has less issues than the 3.8 (specifically cam actuators).
Majors have been mentioned. These are very reliable cars for such a high strung sports car. |
nope. one of the most durable GT3 variants
|
Nope, it's also the best car that you could buy for its value. Can't stop driving mine, I've left the M3 as the daily and started using the GT3 and no problems at all.

Best year dollar per fun ratio

My street-only '07 is approaching 40K miles. zero overrevs, zero leaks, zero problems, reliable as an anvil.

25-30 track days per year for the last 4 years....... Solid as a rock!
|
yes its a horribly unreliable car... coolant leaks, oil drips, clutch wears out your leg muscles. people who own this car are idiots...
...let me take your problem child off your hands... i am doing this as a service to p-car community, who should move towards 997 tt's if they had half a brain :roflmao: |
