I have yellow belts, new tires and an RS steering wheel going in so my cost basis is even higher! Really making sure I keep it
Re-doing the current steering wheel w/yellow strip not only refreshes your current alcantara wheel but also saves you from having to buy a new one Unless ofc you have the leather wheel option... then I wouldn't do it.

Looks like the car was also ran with a spare ECU for part of the time so not sure how that affects the accuracy of any DME read-outs. See https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1225399 where the previous owner is looking to sell the spare "Cup" DME.

Yea he said its "common" that hardcore track guys use 2 ECUs? I've never even heard of this... is this unethical or is it actually normal? It also says RPM Max 8500 on it... maybe it actually blocks you from doing over revs

I think that warning post may have been some kind of sour grapes. He makes a lot of claims, but does not post the PPI. He states a lot of body panels don't line up, but that's what HE says...a guy with 13 posts that had just joined Rennlist. Perhaps the car has some paintwork, but to me his post left me with a question mark.

Oh and while we're complaining about buying our GT3s after the market has risen, don't forget there's two sides to every deal. I sold my as-new 4k mile Challenge Stradale for $139k DOH!

Now that is an ouch!

I've come out smelling like roses in other aspects and other cars so I'm really good with it. Just glad to now own one of my dream cars and in an amazing spec and amazing condition and with an awesome story!!

Yup, well said. This is my beloved car. I had every inclination not to buy this car but something didn't seem right. I got in contact with the previous owner, the sour broker as-well as prior service advisors etc. The broker clearly was distraught by his inability to purchase the car at the price he saw fit and that's about as much of his angle that I took away after speaking to him. The previous owner however went above and beyond, taking hours of his time to speak to me after I somewhat creepishly tracked down his contact info.
This isn't the perfect example of a 997, but it is far from how it was presented to be. It has been the best car I have ever owned, and I can say with certainty it's the perfect drivers example.

This ECU was acquired by the first or second owner and was subsequently included in the sale to the owner before me. I am not sure how long this Bosch unit was used for if at all, but I do know the prior owner never installed it.

After speaking with Dallas Customs I decided not to have them touch my wheel. I'm not into a wheel that doesn't not look factory and is thicker with padding that I can squeeze. You can see it in Ikon's wheel picture. My buddy had his Dodge done by them and it didn't feel good to me. Too soft!

You can see the bunching of the alcantara at around the 2:00 area and then again between 5:00 and 7:00.

When I worked with them they tried to sell me on the thicker padding as a $50 upgrade, they think people want it since it was a factory upgrade. I told them I didn’t want anything but the Alcantara and use my existing filler. For the most part it seems fine to me, I don’t have any bunching like that pic, but my wheel also looks thinner.

heres a better pic of the steering wheel. To me it looks fine I have 2 steering wheel, one thick and one no padding. For $500 it was better then buying a new wheel IMO.

click on pic to see it clear
