The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
Burning Brakes
At $250k it’s hard to pass but $220k won’t move your needle? Seems tough to rationalize to me. I think the bigger problem is as you pointed out, what yo replace it with. Very few choices that check all the boxes for me personally and seems the case for most people owning these cars
Hmm. Not a bad idea. I LOVE the car. But, at $250k, man that's hard to pass up. Not much out there to replace it though even if it sold at that. It's a special car and a tough decision. Love what you did with your 3. Favorite color of course and the ghost striping looks awesome.
Wow! The prices are getting insane. What do you think mine would go for? Pristine, unmolested, stock except for GMG exhaust, but I have stock exhaust, ceramic coated and ppf, no option stripper, CPO until Feb, coolant lines pinned by Porsche. Previous owner painted rims black and did orange lipstick. Zero signs of track use. 07 with 9k miles. WP0AC299X7S793069. Pretty unique to have a CPO on a car this old. I would say that's a pretty large confidence booster. I've heard of one other in the last 2 years, but that's it.
You have a very nice example. Consider holding onto it if the financials aren't a concern and if you enjoy driving it. If you want the cash out of it and don't enjoy driving it, then sell it. My guess is if you bought it years ago, you paid considerably less than even $200k, so at this point, my belief, is in the car world you've won. Driving a car and losing minimal money is ideal. Selling for what you paid is amazing. Anything over what you paid is just a bonus. These cars are more about the smiles you get out of them and the experiences you make with great people rather than the financial position you're in after you own one. Not saying that I always follow that mentality either, but I try and remind myself that the financials should be a secondary thing. Enjoyment should be primary. For some enjoyment is looking at it in their garage, others it's detailing, others it's driving. But what matters is you're enjoying it.
I'd say these are reasonable comparisons:

“The car has just arrived at my shop here in Houston, we have not began our detailing process yet. The pictures below were taken upon my purchase couple weeks ago before shipment to me. The car is all stock except for GT3 seats, matching orange roll bar, partial PPF. The paint is in excellent condition with no dents or scratches. There are minor normal imperfections in the factory stone guards behind the doors which we are planning to replace. The paint is all original except on passenger side rear fender where the owner rubbed up against his wife’s car in his garage. Perfectly matched and repaired. The car has clear Carfax and DME report with zero over-revs in all categories. Service just completed in October with new Michelins not driven since. The car is priced at $268,500.”

Looks like a nice car. Best of luck with the sale.
I inquired about this car and here is what they sent back:

Can anyone tell me the story on this car below? When I went to the GT Register is looks like two different interiors from the images posted on Elfer Spot. Also, the GT Register shows regular tail lights and the Elfer Spot add shows clear. Any input or back ground would be greatly appreciated.

Looks to me like Grand Prix just took it back to stock? But then again looking at the bolster those seats don't look the same at all, they may have swapped them. The fender lights were swapped, tail lights... actually looks like maybe it the same car just 10 years apart... no idea.
